Saved from the jaws of Shere Khan the tiger, Mowgli must learn the Laws of the Jungle from Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther to survive. A brave little man cub grows into a confident and care-free young boy, but danger is never far away and Shere Khan is hungry for revenge. As Mowgli faces each peril and pitfall, he must decide whether he belongs in the world of men or with the animal kingdom. Stuart Paterson reimagines Kipling’s much-loved stories for a new generation in a vibrant, colourful family adventure that’s full of surprises.

A note from the author... When I read Kipling’s Jungle Book stories I was relived to discover how little they had been explored in the enjoyable Disney Cartoon. I could see there was room for a stage adaptation truer to the spirit and language of the original - particularly with regard to the beautiful thread of Messua, Mowgli’s sorrogate mother who has lost her son to the tiger - and I’ve tried to preserve the depth and power of the tales by trusting in the fun and vigour of Kipling’s unique story-telling. Kiping’s jungle of the imagination is vast and magical, full of loss and love and rage, and there are innumerable ways to create that world on stage. Have fun.

SOUN D As the initial sound demands for this show were fairly minimal, this alloud us to really get stuck into the music and sound effects. Creating a whole new world for the audience to experience.

LIGHTING When designing this show , we had to account for the fact that this play was a traditiomal theatre show .To accommodate for this , we built a truss so that we could hang rope swings from . As part of this , when creating the lighting design for this show , we had to think about positions for lights so that we had a full stage coverage . Also we had to do weight calculations to make sure that the entire rig was safe .

SET DESIGN The set is incredibly important in this show. It gives the actors a space to create a whole new world for the audience to encounter. We really wanted to capture the feel of the jungle from the orginal play, as well as the movie that is so loved. The techs have worked tirelessly for days to create what truely is a
