Tweed officer charged
A FORMER senior constable was charged at Tweed Heads this week over historical sexual offences in the state’s south in 1998.
A statement from NSW Police said its Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation in June 2020, following a report that a woman had “allegedly been sexually assaulted by a police officer in the state’s south in 1998.”

“Following extensive inquiries, a 53-year-old man was arrested at Tweed Heads Police Station about 10am today (Tuesday 21 March 2023),” police said.
Police will allege in court that in October 1998, the then aged 28-year-old officer sexually assaulted the woman, then aged 17, while on-duty.
The man was charged with two counts of assault with act of indecency, two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and holder of public office misconduct.
The man was granted conditional bail and will front Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday, April 24.
