Disney-Pixar’s 2013 prequel to the animated hit “Monsters, Inc.” revisits the amusing teamwork of Billy Crystal and John Goodman, cast again as the voices of Mike and Sulley, the creatures who meet at the title college. When their rivalry gets them booted out of school, they set out to make their way in the world together. Helen Mirren is a fine addition to a voice cast that also includes Steve Buscemi and Alfred Molina. The score is by Randy Newman. (Premiere) h Å

The franchise roared back to life with this latest Steven Spielberg-produced chapter, in which the resort’s owners try to goose attendance by introducing a new hybrid creature, the Indominus Rex. What could possibly go wrong? Though it’s hard to take your eyes off the dinosaurs, Chris Pratt is enjoyable as a motorcycle-riding “dinosaur whisperer,” with Bryce Dallas Howard as an ambitious executive who’s hosting her nephews at the site when mayhem erupts. BD Wong, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jake Johnson and Judy Greer also appear. (Premiere)

Premiering as part of Discovery Channel’s “Elevation Weekend,” filmmaker Jennifer Peedom’s 2015 documentary revisits the aftermath of a devastating 2014 avalanche on Mount Everest that claimed the lives of 16 Sherpas, local people who make their living guiding foreign climbers up these fabled slopes. The tragedy left many doubting whether climbing on Everest would ever be the same, but survivors united in grief and anger to reclaim the mountain, where climate change has made the climb even more treacherous.
