Identified Flying Objects

February 2023 will be remembered for a renewed UFO craze, sure to spark a pop culture legacy. U.S. and Canadian fighter jets were on the lookout for balloons, after a high-altitude Chinese surveillance inflatable floated through eastern British Columbia and into Montana. It was eventually shot down off the east coast by U.S. President Joe Biden. But Metro Vancouver is no stranger to fancy objects, flying or otherwise. Take a look below.

On April 17, 2016, a paraglider on the Grouse Mountain to Cleveland Park route strayed way off-course, landing at Montroyal Boulevard and Ranger Avenue.

Area residents made the best of the balmy evening — 2,800 residences lost power and those near the landing spot emerged from their homes to see a sight they’d never seen before and may never see again.

It was on the market in 2020, listed by Sutton Group West Coast Realty. The 1979-built house sold for $1.225 million in June 2020, and assessed last year for $1.77 million.
