VOTE OF CONFIDENCE TO TURKISH STREAM 75 percent of Turkish public supports TurkStream gas pipeline project, new polls say. The TurkStream project, which will carry Russian gas to the vast European market and increase Turkey’s energy supply security, continues garnering support from Turkish public, with the latest poll showing a 75 percent approval rate. According to StratejiCo, an independent corporate and public affairs consultancy firm, the poll results demonstrated the Turkish public’s belief that the TurkStream project would benefit the country. The poll, conducted via telephone interviews with 2,407 participants, showed that 68 percent of the local community in the Turkish northwestern cities of Tekirdağ, Edirne and Kirklareli approved of the project, while the approval rate for it stood at 65 percent in 2015. World’s first vegan fabric produced in Turkey’s Bursa by Ipeker Textile.

peker Textile based in the northwestern Turkish province of Bursa has become the world’s first producer of vegan fabric. After completing an approval process in Switzerland and Germany, the company’s fabric was granted the ‘V-Label’ from the European Vegetarian Union (EVU). The company’s global brand will be sold on market with a certificate code starting with ‘TR.’ The company was certified to with the V-Label May 2, a member of the board of directors of the Ipeker Textile Ihsan

Ipeker said. According to Ipeker, the certification process was thorough because EVU-given V-Label is the most trustworthy vegan/vegetarian certificate. “We have documented that there are no animal ingredients or proteins in the 146 different types of fabric we produce. In our production process, we provide continuity without harming nature and life,” Ipeker said. Ipeker Textile is a Turkish company that exports its products to more than 100 clients in 52 different countries.

TAV to expand operations in Saudi Arabia Turkish airport operator TAV inks deal to operate three more airports in Saudi Arabia.

AV has signed a deal with Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority to operate three airports in partnership with the Al Rajhi Group. The TAV would operate airports in Buraydah in central Qassim province, northwestern Ha’il city and western port

city of Yanbu for 30 years. “The number of airports we operate and passengers we serve will reach 17 and 110 million with Yanbu, Qassim and Ha’il airports,” TAV Chief Executive Officer Sani Sener said in the statement. Sener said the company

remains keen to utilize different opportunities in different parts of the world, especially in developing countries. Yanbu, Qassim and Ha’il airports are expected to serve 11.5 million passengers with $400 million investments.

Interest income from Turkish banks rises to $21.2B BDDK relesead new data about Turkish Banking Market.

The total interest income from Turkey’s banking sector reached TL 75 billion ($21.2 billion) in the first quarter of 2017, according to data released by the Banking Regulatory and Supervision Agency (BDDK). The interest income rose 20.3 percent compared to TL 61.8 billion in the same period last year, the data showed.The interest income for banks from loans in the first quarter of 2017 was TL 59.7 billion.The total interest expenses for banks, paid to deposit holders, increased during the same period to TL 37.9 billion from TL 33.9 billion last year, up 11.7 percent.Meanwhile, the net profit of Turkish banks climbed 59.2 percent in the first quarter, reaching TL 17.5 billion, up from TL 10.9 billion in the same period last year.
