Annual General Meeting 26th to 29th January

• Loro Parque’s new Katandra Treetops A new free flight aviary called Katandra Treetops occupying twice the space of the Royal Albert Hall in London is the latest addition to the exciting range of facilities and attractions available in this zoo and wildlife centre located in Puerto de la Cruz. The new attraction includes over a hundred different species of birds such as cockatoos, pelicans and fruit pigeons and at 27 metres high, it is one of the most impressive free flight aviaries on the planet. Katandra, which is the aboriginal word for birdsong, offers visitors to Tenerife the chance to hear the song hundreds of different species and subspecies of birds from Australia and Asia. Loro Parque also has the world’s largest Penguinarium and collection of parrots.

New hotels • Vincci Seleccion Buenavista Golf & Spa (Buenavista) Opening soon at the end of February is five-star Vincci Seleccion Buenavista Golf, set in the north of the island. Besides the wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean, a stunning jagged backdrop and the smooth green slopes of the Buenavista Golf Course, the new hotel will be offering a Nammu Spa Area, unique to Vincci branded hotels.

New attractions

• Iberostar Grand Hotel Salome (Costa Adeje) Iberostar Grand Collection has added Iberostar Grand Hotel Salomé to its portfolio of luxury hotels. This adults-only five-star property is located on Costa Adeje and features a Thai Zen Space wellness centre. Guests here can also make use of certain areas and facilities in neighbouring Iberostar Grand Hotel Anthelia and Iberostar Grand Hotel El Mirador.

• Iberostar Grand Hotel El Mirador (Costa Adeje) This adults-only hotel offers luxury and romantic escapes and delicious cuisine at several of its restaurants including its new gourmet restaurant El Cenador. Its most exclusive room is “The Royale Suite”, offering a stunning panoramic view of the ocean and “Playa del Duque” beach, which is just a 25-metre walk from the property.

Coming soon is this charming hotel set within a traditional construction also used as a visitors centre named Señorío del Valle. It has 20 rooms and it can arrange outdoor activities for guests such as horse-riding.

• Hotel Rural Bentor (Los Realejos) Located in the beautiful town of Los Realejos, Hotel Rural Bentor is a refurbished stately home from the 17th Century. It offers 19 rooms, divided in two buildings, one of which has been completely refurbished.

• Hotel Gara (Garachico) Set within a recently refurbished Canarian construction, Hotel Gara offers spectacular views of the north coast of Tenerife. The rural style property has 16 rooms, a cafe, a spacious terrace and a spa.

Refurbished hotels • H10 ���� � Gran ���� � Tinerfe ������� (C ��osta ����� � Adeje ����)�� Located in Tenerife South, H10 Gran Tinerfe is a beach-front property with enhanced facilities including new show cooking areas, a new chill out terrace area, two refurbished swimming pools a new pool for children.

• Hotel Rural Casa del Patio (Santiago del Teide)

• Hotel Beatriz Atlantis & Spa (Puerto de la Cruz) Within walking distance from the beach is this four-star completely refurbished hotel. It has a total of 320 rooms, two pools, rooms for private events and a new spa (see next section for further details)

Hotel News • Abama Golf & Spa Resort (Guia de Isora) - M.B restaurant has been awarded a Michelin Star • Hotel Botanico & The Oriental Spa Garden (Puerto de la Cruz) – Has received an International Award of Sustainable Tourism. • Gran Melia Palacio de Isora (Guia de Isora)– Has been rebranded by Sensatori Hotels.

• Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque Resort (Costa Adeje) – New spa run by ESPA • Hotel Beatriz Atlantis & Spa (Puerto de la Cruz) - New spa with fantastic views of the ocean and Mount Teide • Mary Lanza (Arona) – New spa, the largest one in the Canary Islands

New tourism developments • Family – New beach equipment, sunbeds, etc – Calendar of activities for kids – Adeje, Arona, Puerto de la Cruz and Santiago del Teide • Culture – Launch of “Proyecto arte y cultura” in Playa Enramada. – Launch of “Guagua del Vino 2009”, a bus wine tour • Technology – New scheme to improve tourist information service at airport arrivals

Spa developments

– Call centre – Mobile applications with tourist information – Development of a user friendly website, interactive screens and Bluetooth applications • Marketing materials – New brochures and guides – Displays in hotels – Improved and increased banners/ signs • Consumer experience training scheme – SientoxSiento: a new scheme to improve hospitality in Costa Adeje by training and educating professionals within the travel and leisure industry: receptionists, tourist guides, taxi drivers, etc.

• Jet2 offers year round direct flights from Belfast to Tenerife (effective Oct 09) • Aer Lingus offers two new routes – three weekly flights from Belfast (effective Sept 09) and increased flights from Cork (to two weekly) • Ryanair offers new routes from Luton, Bournemouth and Birmingham (effective Oct 09)
