How To Build A Corrugated Sheet Roof? Tuflite Polymers Corrugated sheets are one of the most preferred roofing sheets used in both residential and commercial applications in various parts of the world. Some of the most common applications that use corrugated sheets include sheds, carports, overhangs, etc. This is because corrugated sheets are not only stronger and more durable, but they are very easy to install and require very less maintenance too. And, if you ask us about how easy it is to install corrugated sheets, we’ll simply say that you can install a corrugated roof

on your own (https://www.tuflite.com/blog/diyinstallation-corrugated-polycarbonate-roof)! Let’s now take a look at what all is required to build a corrugated roof.

The materials required  First and foremost, you’ll need your corrugated sheets cut to the desired size. For this, you’ll need a measuring tape to measure the dimensions of your roof. Once you have measured the dimensions, you can ask Tuflite Polymers to cut your corrugated polycarbonate roofing sheets to the desired measurements before delivering them to you.  Apart from the corrugated sheets, you’ll require basic building materials like nails, screws, hammer, screw drill, handsaw, and a ladder.

 Also, some additional requirements include ridge pieces and waterproof plywood slats (generally 18 x 94 mm in size) for the bargeboards.

 Although polycarbonate does not produce any harmful or toxic shards, it is yet advisable to be equipped with safety gear like eyeglasses, masks, face shields, hand gloves, and working shoes.

The installation process  Before installing the sheets, a solid support structure needs to be built, for the roof to stand on. And for this, the distance between the battens, and the angle of inclination of the roof first need to be

decided upon. The general measurements used are a 60 cm distance between the battens, and a 10° inclination of the roof.  Next, the overlap of two consecutive corrugated sheets need to be calculated. In general, the overlap is taken as 15 cm in length, and a complete corrugation in width.  With all the measurements in place, the installation process can be begun by placing the first corrugated sheet at the bottom of the roof, leaving the sheet protruding a few centimeters at the bottom and on the side. Then, keeping the overlap measurements in mind, the next sheet is placed over it. The sheets are secured in place with the help of nails – widthwise on each corrugation, and lengthwise on each beam. In this way, all the corrugated sheets are installed row by row.

 Note 1: If the roof has a ridge, immediately attach the first row of sheets on the other side, and place the ridge piece before starting on the next row.  Note 2: The last row will need to be cut to size, which is why it may need a larger overlap, since the last row should at the least consist of at least three corrugations.  The last thing is to finish the roof on the ends with bargeboards, made from two waterproof plywood slats, screwed at right angles to each other. The bargeboards need to be screwed through the top of the corrugation, into the roof battens. There! Your corrugated roof is ready!
