Fundraiser to Benefit TTUHSC Employee Blue Sky, located at Interstate 40 and Western Street, is hosting a fundraiser to help a School of Pharmacy employee with medical expenses. If at least 100 people eat at Blue Sky and mention the name Cora Bailey when checking out, part of the proceeds raised that night will be donated to Bailey. The fundraiser will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday, May 2. An account has also been set up for Bailey at Amarillo National Bank. Go by any branch and tell them you are donating to the Cora Bailey Benefit Fund. ........................................................................

WHERE YOU WOULD LIKE TO PRACTICE: Dallas or Austin WHY THE HEALTH PROFESSION: Both my mother and brother were extremely sick. I was amazed at how quickly they both recovered after receiving healthcare. FAVORITE THING ABOUT TTUHSC: The faculty HOBBIES: Playing basketball, football and going to the driving ranges. SOMETHING FEW PEOPLE KNOW: I am a pretty decent cook.

Congratulations to Kartick Pramanik, post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, and Sudha Chennasamudram, post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Pediatrics, for winning Excellence in Postdoctoral Research Awards at a postdoctoral event hosted by the TTU/TTUHSC Postdoctoral Association in Lubbock. Chennasamudram and Pramanik will each receive $500 to be used for travel to a scientific meeting. --------------------------------------------------------------Marge Dean, R.N., geriatric nurse practitioner in the Department of Internal Medicine, was recently interviewed by Lifescript.com, the fourth-largest independent online health publisher. Dean provided tips to Alzheimer’s caregivers on how to stay healthy. .......................................................................

They didn’t take first place, but they made a lasting impression on the dance floor during Dancing with the Amarillo Stars. John Betancourt, manager of departmental operations for the Amarillo Physical Plant, and his partner, Roxanne Morgan, recently represented TTUHSC at the Amarillo Stars Gala, which benefits Ascension Academy, a local school aimed at preparing students in 6 through 12 grades for college. The couple took ballroom dance lessons for several weeks in preparation for the big night. They started out dancing the Rumba and ended with the Cha-Cha. .......................................................................
