Abstract The aim of the study was to assess the effect of individually determined and modified aerobic training on a middle-aged sedentary woman. The subject was a 51-year old sedentary female. For estimating the physical capacity of the subject four treadmill tests with gradually increasing loads were conducted. During the tests VO2 max and other data of aerobic capacity were determined. Additionally, the resting heart rate, the length of walking-jogging distance and the number of steps were registered. The results showed that both VO2 max and maximum ventilation were increased, the maximum heart rate was decreased, the time to anaerobic threshold and the duration of exercise test was increased, the heart rate values on the anaerobic threshold was decreased after first two training months and was again increased after the third training month. The value of resting heart rate decreased significantly after the training period. The length of training distance and the number of steps increased significantly after the 12-week training period. We conclude that the individualized approach in directing the process of training was effective – the physical condition of the subject improved. Keywords: individualized approach in directing the process of training, aerobic training, aerobic capacity.
