from the Economic Development Welcome Foundation Chairman of the Board n behalf of the Oxford-Lafayette County Economic Development Foundation, welcome to Oxford, Lafayette County and the University of Mississippi. Our hometown provides a rare and unique setting to experience a community full of gracious hospitality, culture, educational opportunities and a thriving and energetic business environment. Part of our mission for economic development is to be a leader in creating opportunities for responsible economic growth and investment, thereby helping to raise per capita income for all of our citizens and enhancing the quality of life we have here in Lafayette County. A prime example of results attained by the Economic Development Foundation was the major relocation of the Olin-Winchester manufacturing operations to the Max D. Hipp Industrial Park. With the help of the state of Mississippi, TVA, and then Governor Haley Barbour we helped create over 1,000 new good paying jobs for Oxford and Lafayette County. The growth of Oxford and Lafayette County along with strong projected population increases has allowed Baptist Hospital Systems to construct a new $300 million Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi, which means state-of-the-art health care for our citizens and for surrounding counties in North Mississippi. As Oxford and Lafayette County have grown, so has the University of Mississippi with more than 23,000 students on all campuses. Good news just keeps coming from national publications like Kiplinger Magazine, ranking Oxford as the No. 1 college town to retire to. At the University of Mississippi, more than 30 building and renovation projects are underway at this time. This is good solid growth for our community. Whether you are a regular or first-time visitor, retired and looking to relocate, planning or relocating a business or just want a new place to call home; we invite you to come and experience everything we have to offer. This community guide and membership directory will provide you with the information you will need to get acquainted with our area. If you have additional questions, please contact any staff members at the Economic Development Foundation and Chamber of Commerce. They are happy to help! Again, welcome to Oxford, Lafayette County and The University of Mississippi. Thank you,

Thomas G. “Tommy” Smith 2015-2017 Chairman of the Board Oxford-Lafayette County Economic Development Foundation
