ICBL playoffs tip off with finals this weekend
teams – to be named by the ICBL soon – from around the country will compete at the National Indigenous Basketball Tournament in April at the Gold Coast.


It’s playoff time with the Indigenous Community Basketball League on Sunday with the 14s four boys’ and girls’ teams – Kuki, Naygay, Sager and Zey – set to play their first set of semi-finals at the Sports Complex on Thursday Island this weekend.

Winning teams will advance to the grand finals with the girls game tipping off at 5pm, followed by the boys at 6pm.

Nate and Michael keen for 2023 NBL1 season start

Nathan Jawai and Michael Cedar are excited to see the NBL1 North season finally tip off this weekend, with Nate signing up for his second season for the Darwin Salties.
“I’m excited to re-sign with the Salties family,” he said.
“I get another opportunity to represent our Indigenous people and be a part of the local basketball community here in Darwin.
“I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”
The Salties will host the Southern Districts Spartans this coming Saturday.

The shooting guard will be relied upon by the Townsville Heat for his experience, having played in the NBL and attended Australian Junior camps.
The Heat will host the Cairns Marlins on Sunday afternoon at the Townsville Star FM Stadium in the Murray Sports Complex.
