RENOVATION

St. Peter’s Catholic School has been an anchor of the Brookside community for nearly 90 years, providing a superior, faith-based education in a loving and accepting environment. We are nationally accredited and offer a modern, stateof-the-art learning environment in our recently renovated school to children preschool through 8th grade. St. Peter’s is a family, and at the heart of everything we do are these core values: faith, academic excellence, inclusion and community.

FAITH Faith is the foundation at St. Peter’s. We welcome students of all denominations, and are committed to helping children learn and grow with Jesus as their model. We begin in preschool, teaching important “Christ skills” like friendship, forgiveness, sharing, patience, gratitude and inclusion. Religion class and sacramental preparation are integral parts of the curriculum and students K-8 attend weekly Mass. The children live their faith through loving service: to each other, to St. Peter’s Parish, and to the greater community. When they work in the food pantry, rake leaves in the neighborhood, share lunch with our senior citizens or read to their preschool buddies, they learn to be Christ for others.

FAITH . ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE INCLUSION . COMMUNITY

St. Peter’s is more than a school. It is a thriving, supportive community that offers students and families many ways to get involved. Student athletes participate in volleyball, basketball, football, track and cross-country through the parochial league. Through our scouting programs, boys and girls have fun while building character, developing leadership skills and serving the community. Kids join in through robotics, clubs, after-school enrichment classes and more.

Children in kindergarten through 8th grade enjoy auxiliary classes in music, art, physical education, technology and Spanish. Junior high students also choose among electives such as yearbook, student newspaper, Spanish club, choir and band. After-school enrichment courses offer even more opportunities for fun and learning.

It all happens thanks to parent volunteers, the heart of our school. They serve on School Board, PTA and Athletic Committee, help in the classroom, coach our athletes, and plan annual events such as the PTA auction, Moms and Pops athletic tournaments, father/daughter dance, golf tournament, trivia night and more.

Standardized test scores show the success of our approach. On the Iowa Assessments, our students routinely achieve superior standard scores and national percentile rankings. On average, 28% of 8th graders score 90 percent or above on the High School Placement Test (HSPT) and are offered scholarships to area private high schools. Our graduates are achievers.
