MIKE WORLEY Director of Operations First Season Mike Worley enters his first season as the director of basketball operations at Troy in 2013-14. He joins the staff after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas. As a member of the Texas East Conference, the Rangers improved in all three seasons Worley spent on the bench. Kilgore won the 14-team Region XIV regular season title outright in 201213 finishing 27-6 (15-4 in conference) en route to an NJCAA National Tournament appearance and Sweet-16 finish. Prior to his time in East Texas, Worley was an assistant coach to former NBA and collegiate standout Todd Day with the Arkansas Impact based out of Little Rock, Ark. As members of the Premier Basketball League (PBL), the Impact won the Western Division of the pro league and advanced to the championship game of the 2008 PBL Playoffs before falling to the Rochester Razorsharks. In 2006-07 Worley was an assistant to current Mercer men’s basketball head coach Bob Hoffman in the American Basketball Association (ABA) with the Arkansas Aeros. The Springdale, Ark., based team finished that season 25-2 and won the South Division of the White Conference. The Aeros stayed atop the 41-team league’s rankings for 12 straight weeks during the year. Arkansas led the league in scoring average at 133 points per game. In 2005-06 Worley was an assistant coach for the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and Jeremy Cox. The Lions won the Bi-State Conference Tournament and then proceeded to win the NJCAA National Title in Hutchinson, Kan., defeating Tallahassee Community College 68-59. UAFS concluded the year with a 33-3 overall record. Mike has been married to wife Sarah for ten years. The couple have three children; Raeghan, Rachel and Drew.
