2013 TROY TROJANS SOFTBALL Beth Wade joins the Troy staff after spending the 2012 season at Lynn University, a Division II member, in Boca Raton, Fla. She will serve primarily as the hitting coach for the Trojans and will also assist with the infield and recruiting. Prior to coaching at Lynn University, Wade spent time on the coaching staff at Appalachian State. Wade played collegiately at Florida State from 2000-2004 where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a Master’s degree in Sports Administration. In the classroom, Wade was a three-time NCAA Academic All-American and four-time Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll member. On the playing field, she was named to the All-ACC team and the All-ACC Tournament team in 2004.
Beth WAde
While at FSU, Wade and the Seminoles won three ACC championships (2000, 2003, and 2004) and made two appearances in the NCAA Women’s College World Series in 2002 and 2004. In 2004, FSU was ranked second nationally throughout much of the season, as Wade led the team in doubles and home runs and FSU finished with a 62-19 record.
After her playing career, Wade served as an assistant coach at Tallahassee Community College in 2005 before entering the private sector until her stint at Appalachian State started in 2009. Wade helped the Mountaineers to their first winning season in 2010 as the Appalachian State hitters, under Wade’s instruction, posted the highest batting average in school history. In 2009, Appalachian State finished second in the Southern Conference and set single-season records in home runs, runs scored, runs batted in, on-base percentage, and walks. Additionally, Wade served as the team’s academic coordinator and helped 10 players receive SoCON All-Academic honors while 19 players were named to the Southern Conference honor roll. Wade also received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Florida State and a Masters of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida.
