Adjusting the Chain Tension Having the chain tensioned properly is crucial to conveyor life. Having the conveyor too loose will lead to premature wear, and potential breakage, especially when reversing conveyor. In Proper Chain Tension we discussed what the proper chain tension looks like. If your chain is loose, the following steps must be taken to tension the chain. • • • • • •
Loosen the 4 adjuster lock bolts Loosen adjuster bolt lock nut Turn adjuster bolt until desired tension is reached Lock down adjuster by tightening adjuster lock bolts Tighten adjuster bolt lock nut Repeat on the opposite side of the trailer

Note: Usually both sides take close to the same amount of turns of the adjuster bolt to tension
