Adjusting the Belt Scraper on a Trout River Live Bottom

Page 1

Adjusting the Belt Scraper The belt scrapers purpose is to keep the belt scraped clean, to avoid contamination between loads. This page will go through the steps in properly adjusting the belt scraper on our live bottom trailer. •

The belt scraper is tensioned with a spring on each side. A nut is used to apply pressure on each spring. Due to its design, as the nut is tightened down on the spring, the spring applies more pressure on the belt scraper, which in turn, applies more pressure on the belt.

Step 1: loosen locking nut •

The “adjustment” nut is locked in place with another nut tightened against it o To loosen use 2 wrenches, one on each nut, to loosen the top “locking” nut

Step 2: Thread down “adjustment” nut to apply pressure on the spring •

Do this until belt scraper is properly adjusted

Step 3: Re-tighten locking nut •

Re tighten the locking nut by using a wrench to keep the lower nut stationary, and another to tighten the top nut against the bottom nut

Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3 on the other side of the belt scraper, being sure both sides are equally tensioned What does proper adjustment look like? •

Proper tension is when the scraper keeps in constant contact with the belt, and keeps a steady pressure, so that you can see it rise between each crossbar as the belt travels Do not over-tension, as the belt or lacing could be damaged
