Get organised There are loads of ways of getting organised. With different types of storage furniture, you are able to customise your storage exactly to your needs. Here are a few clutter control tips.

Choosing storage Firstly,

organise

your

possessions

and

then

choose suitable storage. Make sure that the things you use daily are easily accessible. Using modular systems

and drawer space is a very good way to conceal

clutter. Boxes and baskets are a good idea too, and if you are short of floor space, wall-hanging storage can be a good solution. 2.

Book shelves Bookshelves can be hung above other furniture or in spaces that are often redundant, over windows and doors, near the ceiling, and on walls below the top of the stairs. Tactile materials such as bamboo, wicker and rattan have made baskets a favourite storage option in many homes because of their natural colours that will look good in almost any room and style of interior. Baskets – either open or lidded – can be used as wash baskets and bins in the bathroom, for CDs, DVDs or magazines in the living room, for children's

toys, for storing candles in a decorative way, or as log holders by the fire.

Wardrobe storage When choosing bedroom storage, there are a lot of things to consider. In general, go for the biggest

wardrobe possible. You can never have enough space

for

your

clothing,

shoes

and

bedding.

space and still achieve a streamlined look. You 5.

of drawers for smaller items and shoe organisers. If you are still in need of storage, put the space beneath your bed to work. Low containers with lids to keep dust out are to be preferred. Choose containers on wheels for easy access. Don't jam too much under the bed or you will reduce air circulation around the bed. Alternatively, choose a bed with built-in storage drawers. My home – my way

Why Amsterdam? There is no prejudice in Amsterdam, people are open-minded and there's room to think freely. It must be the world's centre for Bohemian living. I love my daily bike rides through the town and its beautiful surroundings, and the fact that I always meet relaxed and happy people. In my opinion, life is lived as it should be in Amsterdam.

Describe your home? Comfortable simplicity combined with a special personal touch, like for example the knocked through fireplace in our bathroom.

How do you use your home? It's an open home where our lovely friends are always welcome to join us for a relaxing meal, together with as many people as possible around the table – like an Italian family dinner.

Which room is the most important in your home? The kitchen is the centre of our home life, and the place that is closest to my heart. Food is one of my great passions. I love making food – for the more people the better.

What do you like best about your home? There are a number. I love the mix of styles in the bathroom, with gold plated taps a la Elizabeth Taylor and a bathtub in best John Wayne style. The paintings by my good friend Pava. But if I had to choose, I'd have to say that the love in our home is the best thing about it.

What would you never let inside your home? Narrow mindedness and mediocrity.

Where do you find inspiration? On my bike rides through Amsterdam.

What do you wish for? That people would smile in the face of fortune a little more.

What's the next thing you plan to buy for your home? A doorbell that only works when there are happy and friendly people at the door. But I don't think that's been invented yet.

'I spend a lot of time travelling the world to gather impressions. I read all

kinds

books

journals,

particularly financial publications, as they have a lot to say about consumers. For example, by checking share prices, I can identify purchasing patterns by picking out companies that are doing well. It is also here that I learn about general trends,' explains Morten Georgsen.

Drawing inspiration from multiple levels, he works with Head of Design, José Garcia and the rest of the staff at his drawing office in Valencia, Spain, to create shelving units, tables and other items of furniture to suit contemporary trends.

'We came up with the new room dividers because many people live in large rooms today. This means that they often need to divide up or 'cordon off' sections of the room – ideally without having to use large, bulky dividers. We tried a great many designs and constructions before we settled on the airy and organic form, says José Garcia.

'The aim of furniture design is not to change people's lifestyles but to complement them. This finds expression, for example, in our new coffee table that can be raised to allow people to eat or work in front of the T V,' explains Morten Georgsen, who, in the development phase, almost works on design in his sleep. 'I think really well early in the morning – when I have just opened my eyes and am still not completely awake.'
