NIKKOS BREW
From humble beginnings in a homegrown coffee shop in the city of Kidapawan, Nikko’s interest in brewing was kindled after working in a local cafe in Davao. In 2017, he founded Nikko’s Brew and has been serving locals ever since.
The goal was to create a fresh logo that resonates with them and design branding that speaks for Nikko’s personalities - humble, simple, and passion-driven.
The concept behind the illustrations and collaterals dwells on nostalgia, humbleness, and the feel of being local.
The logo consists of a symbol of coffee bean, as the heart of their cafe, the Mount Apo that represents greatness, Sun on top of the mountain that symbolizes growth and higher self, a mug at the bottom which is used for coffee and stands for safe space, and window as a frame of the over-all logo that expresses fresh start and new beginnings.
THREE FALLEN ANGELS
In the book of Enoch, he mentioned three fallen angels- Azazel, Azza, and Uzza. The fallen angels taught sorcery on earth, causing corruption.
The concept behind this passion project plays around the modern day fallen angels breaking the harmful social stereotype of toxic masculinity.
It started as a passion project. Heavenly Bodies and Biblical Catholic Imagination are two of my favorite sources of inspiration. I formed a team of creatives that have the same wavelength and have the same vision as me.
The art direction of the project is heavily inspired by the painting of Tatian, entitled “Assumption of the Virgin”.
Tatian’s painting shows the Virgin Mary being lifted towards heaven. She stands on a rising wave of cloud, entering the realm of God. Beneath her cloud, the physical realm of earthly life is huddled and chaotic: the men in the lower section are begging for mercy, alarmed and in awe like the three fallen angels.
The styling, hair, and make-up is based on the social media movement of “let boys be feminine” .
The colors red, blue, green, and brown are the palette for the shoot. It represents empowerment, movement, and the elements of fire, water, earth, and air.
These are some behind-the-scenes photos of me shooting and making the production design. The shoot are composed of passionate Davao Creatives that help me achieve my vision for the shoot.

MANUVU
Manuvu is the senior thesis of mine. It is a typography project composed of three typefaces focusing on the Indigenous culture of the Manobo tribe. Manobos are concentrated in the northern and southern parts of Mindanao, Philippines. They have a rich culture and arts.
Their communications are rooted in iconography, the usage of symbols to represent the different facets of their life. This iconography is part of their heritage, however, due to acculturation and modernism, both culture and system of communications have been diminishing from the awareness of the younger generation.
The Manuvu thesis is about getting the Gen Z Manobos and other Gen Z Filipinos, whose primary link to their culture is their dialect, to rekindle their interest in the Manobo Culture, by reviving the system of communication with modern typography and iconography.
The typography system is based on the Manobo Textile Art and Design chart which include iconography of their Faith and Beliefs, Nature and Animals, and Weaponry. The three typefaces designed for the system are inspired by these symbols which have been paired and redesigned. The three typefaces are Manuvu, Paminogdon, and Kinaiyahan. Manuvu represents the Manobo people, Paminogdon stands for their faith and beliefs, and Kinaiyahan speaks of their agriculture and way of survival.
