Q

Tell us about you and your practice. What made you decide to go into the health industry?

A

I have both a Massage Therapy practice and a Skin Care practice. Within each specialty, I use a variety of modalities in order to focus on both corrective and preventative therapies. I was born in and grew up in Wyoming where hard work, sacrifice, and family were the primary focus. As a child, all around me, my family members suffered various ailments, injuries and afflictions and many of my family members died early suffering from poor health and led poor lifestyles. In my late teens I moved to Southern California and then went on to go to college in Idaho. In both locations I observed a different mindset. One where a healthy balanced lifestyle meant that you were better able to serve those around you and also led to better mental health. I began exploring those ideas and as I dealt with my own health issues, I found that diet, exercise, massage, acupuncture, being outdoors in nature, etc. made me a better individual in a variety of ways.

What is your philosophy about Health & Wellness?

I believe that there is no “one size fits all” approach to health and wellness and that we all have different needs for a healthy lifestyle. I believe that most activities can be called self-care and all should be adding to the quality of our lives. Important components of self-care include; eating a diet that nourishes our bodies and our soul, moving our bodies (use it or lose it), resting our bodies when needed, engaging in leisure activities that fulfill us mentally and emotionally, being in positive relationships, enjoying our work, engaging in community, and spending time with family and friends.
