The deep roots of Suzuki in grand prix motocross racing

Suzuki‘s motocross roots go a long way back. Since the late 1960‘s the ‚yellow‘ brand has been involved in racing, and in association with former GP winner Sylvain Geboers it led to a World Championship winning combination. With 125cc, 250cc, 500cc and MX1 combined, the impressive record currently stands at a total of 34 Constructors‘ titles, 29 Riders‘ titles in the World Championship, 17 Riders‘ titles in the AMA Nationals Championship and 16 in the AMA Supercross Championship. It is this racing heritage that pushes the bikes forward to what they are now - racing machines for the riders you can find in this booklet, but also excellent machines that everybody can enjoy!

Clement Desalle

Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1 After leading the championship for the first half of the season, 23year-old Clement Desalle had to discontinue his quest for the World Championship after a shoulder injury. After a long recovery period in which he had both shoulders operated, the Belgian rider is set to be one of the main contenders once again, already showing good form in the first two pre-season races of Valence/F and Hawkstone Park/UK, where he managed to climb on the top step of the podium! ‚My long winter preparation went well, I was pretty happy to get the racing spirit again at the pre-season races! It‘s still different from a GP though, but I‘m looking forward for the season to start!‘

Tanel Leok

New on the MX1 team is Estonian rider Tanel Leok. Leok has won several GPs in the past and can always be considered as a serious contender for winning GPs. The ‚Estonian Express‘ adapted well to his new Factory RM-Z 450, showing some impressive starts and heat wins at the pre-season races. He‘s like a fish in the water when it comes to deep sandy tracks, so in it‘s first big race for the team, Leok managed to secure second position in his first ever beach race of Le Touquet, one of the most grueling sand races that exist! His riding style is a mixture of aggressive and smooth at the same time, but one thing is for sure: He‘ll always give 100% when it‘s needed!

SUZUKI RM-Z 450 Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1

With numerous GP victories from Joël Smets, Kevin Strijbos, Clement Desalle and Steve Ramon‘s World Championship title in 2007 on it‘s palmares, the legendary RM-Z 450 needs no introduction. The newest generation of RM-Z 450‘s builds further on it‘s magnificent - trademark - handling in combination with the KYB Factory suspension. The 2012 bike had an engine update to deliver more - but still silky smooth - power throughout it‘s entire power range. Be sure to see this fuel injected 4-stroke bike on the podium in 2012!

Harri Kullas

‚If you really want something, then you can achieve this‘, is one of the favourite quotes of Harri Kullas. The 19-year-old Finn managed to impress at last year‘s GP of Glen Helen, where he scored a fourth place in the heavily fought MX2-class. His efforts - ninth position in the overall result of the 2011 MX2 World Championship - were awarded with a ticket to the Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe team. Riding bikes since age 7, his extreme ambition pushed him towards a near-perfect riding style, with the crown of Finnish Supercross Champion to prove for it. With Stefan Everts as role model, it only emphasizes his will to work hard to get results. His goal for 2012: ‚Better than ninth in the overall MX2 World Championship!‘

Petar Petrov

Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe

When you grow up in the motocross-crazy city of Sevlievo, it seems logical that talented riders like Petar Petrov want to size up against the fastest riders in the world. The succes of this young Bulgarian didn‘t come accidentally though, thanks to unavoidable hard work he‘s now between the world‘s best. Quite rare for a Bulgarian, Petar can rely on some decent Sand skills, which he proved by taking 5th position in the brutal GP of Lommel/BEL. In the tough Dutch Open MX Championship he managed to secure a respectable third position overall. This year Petar can attack the World Championship on a factory backed race bike, offered by Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe. Petar‘s goals 2012: ‚I‘m happy to be on the team and hope that I can stay injury-free to reach top ten!‘

Bike Profile

SUZUKI RM-Z 250 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe

The 2012 RM-Z 250 builds on the race experiences of the last two World Championship seasons. Pure speed, light handling and a high self-consciousness is needed to get it to the limit of it‘s abilities for both rider and the bike. The RM-Z engine with it‘s perfectly tuned injection system impresses with an astonishing peak performance without sacrificing in it‘s lower and mid rpm‘s. It‘s the reason why the RM-Z 250 is the bike of choice for riders all over the world. Great handling, wide power band and low dry weight is what makes this bike a winner.

Jorge Zaragoza

Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe

The Spanish lightweight with a ringing name was already a hotshot on his 85cc machine, which he rode to vice champion in 2011. This year he‘s moving onto the Suzuki RM 125, which is the most logical step towards the bigger bikes. It doesn‘t make his ambitions for the EMX 125 Championship any less: „I want to win the Championship for Suzuki, since signing with them is the best thing that could happen to me! Working hard does pay off! - said the 15-year old Jorge who also took the start of the famous Paris/Bercy Supercross. One of his favorite tracks is Sevlievo/BUL, where this year he can show what he‘s worth on his official Suzuki!

Bikes‘ Profile

SUZUKI RM 125 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe

With the ultra manoeuvrable Suzuki RM125 in his hands, Jorge Zaragoza is on his way to the top of the EMX125 championship. The RM 125 is the most agile bikes of this class, and forms the best step between the 85cc and 250-4stroke series. Equiped with almost the same components as the MX2 teambikes and built in the team‘s workshop, this RM 125 is for sure one of the hottest bikes in the 2012 EMX125 championship.
