Worship Committee Report
Wo r s h i p C o m m i t t e e R e p o r t
It would hard to imagine a year with a greater variety of worship! Outdoors, indoors, no singing permitted and then… we burst into song! The impact of Covid-19 on church life and activities was perhaps most quickly and obviously felt on worship. Restrictions on gatherings and safety measures to limit infection spread have placed us within a whole new world of hand sanitizer and face coverings. The wonderful story is that these challenges didn’t stop us. Instead so many people have brought creativity to worship that we could never have imagined; and what a beautiful campus and church building we have to worship in! 2021 has included a return to full indoor worship, the return of our amazing choir and full sung services, some beautiful evening worship occasions including a Moravian concert with Evensong, and traditional Lessons & Carols. A particular highlight was a service of Reception & Confirmation with Bishop Martin Townsend held in the church courtyard on a sunny fall weekend. It’s been so heartening to see our children and young people returning to and participating in worship in conjunction with Trinity Kids meeting again each Sunday morning. At the start of the new church year and Advent we launched our refreshed new look service bulletins. For those people not yet ready to return to in-person worship or not living locally we continued our “Trinity at Home” virtual service. This continues to be a popular option and it’s been especially gratifying to reach a whole new group of people who now feel that they’re able to worship with and be part of Trinity virtually. This has resulted in kind messages and generous gifts from right across the country. During the year, and largely due to a very successful and wellattended Ministry Fair in the fall, we’ve been blessed with good number of people offering themselves for a range of ministries supporting our worship: Readers, Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, Acolytes, & Prayer & Healing Ministers. Thanks to all of you and if you’d like to join them please get in touch. Late in 2021 we held the first Worship Committee meeting since the start of Covid-19 and we hope to meet regularly during 2022.
