After nearly 20 years serving the school in a variety of roles, Lee Sprague has retired as associate head of school, a position she has held since 2015. “We have enjoyed, appreciated and grown from Lee’s many contributions in the classroom, strategic thinking, daily life and her strong sense of working for what is best for students and the school,” wrote Head of School Rob Short. “Her forward thinking approach to problem solving, planning and dreaming about a better tomorrow for Trinity has made her an invaluable colleague.” After her oldest daughter Mary became a member of the class of 2005, Sprague began volunteering in the library and joined the faculty as assistant librarian in the fall of 2003. “I had so much fun getting to know each student, and designing activities for them which would help their information literacy grow,” says Sprague, who eventually became head librarian. “I saw my work as supportive and complimentary to the curricular goals of the teachers, and we had a great time collaborating on projects over the years.” Sprague is especially proud of the work she did with the IB program, supporting students through their Independent Assessments and Extended Essays, helping to design the school’s CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) program and teaching Theory of Knowledge, a core piece of the IB curriculum, with Short. “We were always experimenting and learning from one another, teachers and students,” she recalls. “It has been an incredible honor to serve in all of these roles at Trinity, easily the best place I have ever worked.” Sprague is looking forward to traveling and connecting with family in far away places. 6
