Volleyball The Trinity College Volleyball Club continues to enjoy wonderful success both on and off the court as a result of the tremendous support from the volleyball community. I thank the Volleyball Club committee, family members, students and coaching staff for their wonderful contribution this season. The committee has introduced some marvellous initiatives in the past 12 months to solidify the profile of our sport amongst the PSA competition. These initiatives also aid the players in becoming the best athletes they can and assist in developing the players as young men. The committee’s decision to align with Balcatta Volleyball Club and compete in the Junior Winter League Competition has allowed our players to play more regularly. As a club, we have also had additional support in the form of sponsorship and would like to thank the generous donations received from Uwe’s European Appliance Repairs and Main Street Cellars. Both companies have provided financial support and products to facilitate fundraising initiatives and we are truly grateful.

Our philosophy as a club is to promote inclusion and to coach each team within our club as if they are as important, as the 1st VI team. This mantra stems from focusing on process versus outcome and treating every individual as an investment in the future. To fulfil this statement we must first define success and how we measure success. Defining this term can be complex, multi-faceted and a multi-layered phenomenon that is socially learned and discussed differently amongst people. From an education and coaching perspective it is about behaviours, norms

and expectations and to others it can be about shields and medals. As Head Coach I am pleased to acknowledge our players continually focus on behaviour, expectations and norms which facilitates a strong club culture. Our culture is a constant work in progress but through strong leadership and sound methodologies Trinity volleyball has managed to build an environment of which we can be proud. The outcome of the 2016 volleyball season was a successful one, retaining the Br Carigg Shield is truly satisfying, but what is most pleasing was the process that has led to the achievement. The preparation began in Term 4 2015 with the opportunity to play five of the six PSA competitors and the incentive of travelling to Melbourne to compete in the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup, was an ideal platform. The standard of competition our athletes were exposed to during the 2015 AVSC tournament was far superior to any fixture or game our players had previously encountered at PSA level. Our results at this tournament were mixed across the different age groups entered, but the most pleasing aspect was the third place finish of the Year 10 team — it was our first ever medal at this tournament. Our results overall: Under 15 Division 1 – 17th Under 16 Division 1 – 5th Under 17 Division 1 – 3rd Open Division 2 – 22nd
