t the beginning of February the Trinity Volleyball season once again began with games played at Lords Recreation Centre in Subiaco. This year saw the inaugural inclusion of a Year 10 team into the Saturday competition. There are now six official teams over Year 8 to 12 in the PSA competition. The First team sported plenty of height and talent. Led by the Captain William Brock, they showed remarkable skills and determination to win some of the early games. Unfortunately, a tendency to start slowly meant that were always trying to catch up in the match and often the difference between winning and losing was one point. After many close matches, despite being the more impressive team in the contest, the final result placed our Firsts in fourth place. With players building on their skills and experience, next year will be a quality year for Trinity. Our Seconds had plenty of depth and many players filled in for the Firsts over the season. Coached by Mr Gianni Ricciardi, they improved consistently over the season and managed to place third overall in the competition. The Thirds had a large range of players with differing abilities. However what they lacked in experience, they made up for in sheer motivation and determination. With Ms Rita Basilio at the helm, the Thirds managed a very respectable fourth place. This year saw the beginning of a Year 10 competition. Led by old boy Mr Emmanuel Solana, our team struggled against more experienced sides. Despite this lack of experience our boys always managed to field a

side and gained in skill over the season, finishing fourth overall. Our Middle School volleyball players turned up in numbers to compete on Fridays against the other PSA schools at Lord’s Recreation Centre. Trinity showed its depth with many players shining over the season. We were easily able to field three sides, all of which were very competitive. Our Middle A team were very experienced Year 9 boys who had played a full season of volleyball last year. They dealt with most sides easily but dropped one game against Christchurch which cost them the top spot and they finished second overall. Our Middle B team, coached by Mr Marcus Wilkinson, set the standard in their competition, finishing in the top position, the best result for Trinity this season. Also the Middle C team acquitted itself well, the standard of play and sportsmanship were a pleasure to watch. Special mention must go to Joshua Marinoni, Daniel Purcell, Damon Mule and David Hart who won Service and Contribution Awards for Volleyball in 2004. Congratulations to all those boys who trained hard and persevered over the season. Their hard work and determination was commendable especially towards the end of the season when full squads of over twenty five boys were training together in the mornings. Thanks to all parents and friends who supported us over the season. Bobby Emmanuel Co-ordinator
