Many Firsts, and only the Beginning Trinity’s first MIT with Pastor Sam Ath, a TCA College alumni and General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Cambodia was also Trinitarian Sharon Lim’s first MIT with Trinity. Sharon Lim shares how this has led her to believe this will be the beginning of many more mission trips to come.

F

or seven years I’ve called myself a Christian. The first few years were spent not quite understanding why some of my carecell friends could actually read their Bibles regularly, and why some others would go for missions trips. I’ve heard about missions trips for as long as I’ve been in Trinity but I never thought I’d participate in one. I conveniently believed that missions trips were for pastors, or at least, for the supremely “holy ones” among us, who would be “powerful enough” to preach the gospel to those living overseas. In February 2012, I had a most awesome experience with 11 other teammates. I 94

experienced incredible unity with teammates whom I didn’t know beforehand and learnt so much about humility and servant-leadership from each of them. It was a trip filled with many last minute surprises, but the group was spontaneous and even joyful in handling each ‘surprise’ as it came. Many times as we set off to our destination for the day, we would immerse ourselves in worship and prayer to realign ourselves with God and ask Him to refill us for another long day. We had an amazing time ministering to many children in different villages. We were granted much favor that allowed us to share about Jesus in two schools, one of
