Love, Interrupted Simon Thomas Navigating Grief One Day at a Time £12.99 | Demy Paperback | 9781789561043 | 13/06/19

When Simon Thomas lost the woman he had loved for 16 years, the future he had imagined for their happy family disappeared for ever. Gemma died from acute myeloid leukaemia, just three days after being diagnosed. Afterwards, Simon didn’t know how to carry on. He just knew that, for the sake of his son, he had to find a way ...

In that one moment, Gemma, the mother, the daughter, the sister and friend, the mother of my boy, and the woman I had loved for 16 years, was gone.

Love, Interrupted tells the story of a man deeply traumatised by the death of his soul mate. It asks some hard questions about how you carry on when the light of your life has been extinguished. But it also gives immense hope to anybody who has been bereaved. Simon is still learning how to live without Gemma, but the lessons he’s already learnt have given him so much more hope for the future. Simon Thomas has been a highly successful TV Broadcaster for nearly 20 years – for Blue Peter and Sky Sports. Away from television, Simon has hosted live football and cricket events, the London 2012 Olympic Games, and the Grand Prix. He is a lifelong Norwich City Fan, and now the proud President of the charity Bloodwise UK, a cause extremely close to his heart.

Another Peak

Alex Staniforth Everest is Not the Only Summit

£11.99 | Trade Paperback | 9781789560770| 04/07/19

@triggerpub

Reaching Everest was always the dream, but after an avalanche stopped Alex the first time and an earthquake the second, he had to take a step back. But even as he climbed down, he couldn’t stop wondering ‘What’s next?’ But a history of anxiety, depression, and eating disorders rears its multiple heads once more, making this the hardest thing Alex has ever had to do. Finding himself alone too often, with only his thoughts for company, it becomes less of a fight of man and nature and more of man and mind. Alex Staniforth is a young inspirational speaker, adventurer, endurance athlete, and mental health advocate from Cheshire. He is the fastest person ever to climb all 100 UK county tops. He is an ambassador for YHA England & Wales, PHASE Worldwide, and won the Pride of Britain Granada Reports Fundraiser of the Year. He has raised over £85,000 for charities so far, and was shortlisted for the Cycling Weekly ‘Best Charitable Initiative’ Award 2018.

Through his work as a barber, he recognised how important it was to encourage men to talk to each other. He knew that if he could just help men to open up, then perhaps he could save lives. And so, the ‘Lions Barber Collective’ was born: an international group of top barbers, all of whom came together to encourage conversation and help raise awareness for the prevention of suicide.

Parenthood brings sleepless nights, tears and tantrums, nappy changes from hell, and the firm belief that you’re Cameron Diaz … wait, what?! New mum, Jen Wight, definitely wasn’t expecting that. But after her son was born, her worldview shifted in strange and unexpected ways. Within weeks, Jen found herself living a very different life – working out the deeper connections underpinning existence, and discussing strategy with Barack Obama. The problem is, no one else could see what she saw. Not even her next-door neighbour, Renée Zellweger! Rattled tells the extraordinary story of how Jen overcame her manic episodes – caused by postpartum psychosis - and beat her postpartum depression to become the loving, caring, wonderful mother she is today.

“Jen charts the territory of post-natal psychosis and depression with great courage, vision and wit.” - Juliet Stevenson CBE, award-winning actress
