When One Door Closes, Another Opens

BY: Fabiola Galvez

The door closed behind me, and I looked into the distance, praying to God for the strength and grace to see what I was going to do. With a check in my hand serving as proof that I had worked for months on that advertising article, I said to myself: 'If this door has closed, then I have the key to create another door.'

This idea was born out of a conversation with one of the most influential people in the company, and that check symbolized my constant work toward achieving those goals. As I talked with my good friend about how I felt, I realized the conditions I was in, which led me to say, 'I'm going to create a door,' because, as I said before, 'When one door closes, another door opens ahead.'

That door I created almost seven years ago is called 'Gente Bonita Magazine.'

So I tell you, dear readers, don't worry too much when a door closes; think about what you learned inside that door, and that knowledge becomes the raw material for creating a new door. 'Gente Bonita' resulted from my learning, sweat, and constant, creative, and intense work. It was born from my passion for getting the article and corresponding interviews, as well as creating interesting and valuable content for the reader.

'Gente Bonita' is the fruit of my desire to do things well and for good, and all of us who have the opportunity or the mission to lead other people must have these characteristics. Especially as women with Latin blood, it is important to make our work into a story that inspires, a work of art, and a life lesson for others.

From there, leadership was reborn within me, and today, as CEO and founder of 'Gente Bonita,' I have the pleasure, gift, and privilege of continuing to write stories about beautiful people, promoting and writing about their products, their services, and above all, their exemplary lives. I am living proof that it is you that set the limits - because only you know your capabilities. So don't be afraid, and don't give up your dreams.

There are many circumstances, people, and obstacles, but you should focus on persevering. Only you know what you can and should do. Focus on the Faith, Passion, Love, and drive to do what you love to make a difference. You can impact someone's life, inspire that person's life, help people, and build up your platform. And that's what this is all about, sharing with others and improving our surroundings.

Complaining has never been my style of life, nor is feeling like a victim, and I believe it has helped me a lot along the way because being an entrepreneurial woman, mother, and wife is quite a challenge. There are days when I say hey, I can't do it, but then I get filled with adrenaline and the desire to be able to do it, to go the extra mile, to make the impossible possible, and in that journey, to take steps forward.

'Gente Bonita' is a beautiful project that has led me to take on challenges, reinvent myself in this stage of my life, and meet other remarkable women. I admire all women who have stepped out of their comfort zone to pursue their dreams, believing in themselves, and taking steps of faith - a round of applause and recognition to all women for being a source of inspiration.

On one occasion, not long ago, someone told me that my project was a failure and that I was headed straight for defeat. And that, my dear readers, was my key to open a door.
