I believe the magic of the holidays lies in tradition. Though the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day can feel like a mad dash, tradition makes room for meditative moments that allow us to be present, thankful and reflective. Creating the same dishes, telling the same stories, singing the same songs, playing the same games, these acts allow us to celebrate the season and revel in the magic of being with loved ones. In this spirit, we asked local luminaries to share their traditions in “How I Holiday” (page 8). From splurging on expensive Champagne to creating homemade gingerbread houses, these locals know how to invoke the spirit of the season.
