way to the win and improved to 3-1 on the season. Reagan, which had lit up the scoreboard in its first three games, made key miscues and that was enough to swing the momentum toward the Eagles. Coach Todd Willert of East Forsyth said his team showed good internal fortitude

in bouncing back from its loss.

“I believe the win got us back on track and I saw a lot more focus in our guys’ eyes during the game,” - Todd Willert “It was a good win for us,” Willert said. “Reagan has a great

offense and they play really hard on defense and it is good to win against an undefeated team. If you were a fan you got your money’s worth Friday night.” East Forsyth has another tough battle this Friday against Greensboro Page, which is winless, but has played a brutal schedule thus far. Willert said the victory over Reagan should help the Eagles return to form. “I believe the win got us back on track and I saw a lot more focus in our guys’ eyes during the game,” Willert said. “ I think the defense really helped out all night.” Chrishon Springs, a junior linebacker and three-year starter, provide several key plays for the Eagles, including a

Rams drop loss to Valodsta State From Staff Reports POWDER SPRINGS, GA – The No. 12-ranked WinstonSalem State Rams could not overcome costly penalties and a late fumble, as they fell to #23 Valdosta State 22-17 in Powder Springs, GA Saturday evening. The loss dropped WinstonSalem State to 1-1, while Valdosta State improves to 2-0. The game was a rematch of the 2012 DII National Championship game, and it lived up to its billing in an exciting game. After a scoreless first quarter, Valdosta State got on the board first on a Jake Medlock one yard run for

score, and the ensuing two point conversion game the Blazers an early 8-0 lead. After another Ram punt, the WSSU defense bowed up, with Terry Ross intercepting a Jake Medlock pass and returning it 52 yards for a touchdown to move the Rams to within one at 8-7. But Valdosta State would answer right back with a 10 play, 70 yard drive finished off by a Cedric O'Neal three yard run to push the Blazers back out to a 15-7 lead heading into the locker room at the half. WSSU would take the second half kick and march 60 yards in 12 plays, but could only manage a 21 yard field goal from Alejandro Suarez, as the

drive stalled, cutting the Valdosta State lead to 15-10. Once again however, the WSSU Rams could not get off the field on third down, as it led to another Blazer score. This time O'Neal reached the endzone from five yards out to push Valdosta State out to a 22-10 lead in heading into the fourth quarter. WSSU's Phil Sims would lead the Rams on a long 14 play, 99 yard scoring drive, capped by Sims' first touchdown pass as a Ram, when he would hook up with Marcel Caver

Terry Ross for a 15 yard scoring pass and reception to pull the Rams to within five, at 22-17. Winston-Salem State's defense would continue to play well and forced VSU to punt on several occasions, and the Rams seemed to

Home Grown Talent Glenn JV comes from behind to defeat Reagan Braxton Rorie scores four touchdowns, totals more than 200 yards to pace Bobcats By Sam Davis Triad Sports Weekly Braxton Rorie scored four touchdowns and Glenn fought back from a 36-23 fourth-quarter deficit to help the Bobcats defeat Reagan, 43-36 last Monday night. The victory improved the Bobcats’ record to 31. Rorie totaled more than 200 yards receiving in the game for Glenn, which suffered its only loss to West Forsyth, 27-20 in their season-opener. Coach Greg Payne of Glenn said his team is improving each week. “Like most JV teams we are young and are working week to week to keep get-

ting better.,” he said. “This game was a big step in that direction as our players allowed themselves to be coached and stuck with the game plan.” Rorie’s 45yard touchdown reception in the first quarter got Glenn off to a quick start. Jarred Jones added the extra point to lift the Bobcats to a 7-0 first quarter advantage. Reagan scored two touchdowns to close out the first period to take a 14-7 lead before Stephon Brown connected with Rorie on a 69-yard pass and Jones' kick tied the score 14-14 at the end of the period. Regain added a touchdown early in the second quarter to

Eagles from Page 1 fumble recovery that led to an East Forsyth touchdown. “Chrishon Springs set up our first score when he caused a fumble,” Willert said. Another key play came during the Eagles’ 21-point spurt in the third quarter that allowed them to take control of the game. “The big play in the third quarter was the pass play shape to (Christian) Beal for 80 yards after an interception by Madison Cone in the end zone,” Willert said. Willert also gave credit to assistant coach Ron Horton and quarterback Carson Sharpe for the East Forsyth thir-quarter outburst. “Offensive Coordinator Ron Horton and Karson made an adjustment at half to that pass play and it worked great,” Willert said. “Our offensive line did a great job for us. When you have 487 yards on

take a 20-14 lead. But Glenn retook the lead at 23-20 after getting a 33-yard field goal from Jones and a 68yard touchdown reception by Rorie at the end of the first half. However, Reagan's third-quarter touchdown and twopoint conversion put the Raiders on top, 28-23 going into the fourth quarter. Regain went back ahead early in the fourth quarter on a touchdown pass and added a two-point conversion for a 3623 advantage. Rorie added a 77-yard kickoff return to close the gap to 3630 after Jones PAT. Ashton Green caught a 68-yard touchdown pass from Brown to give Glenn a 37-36

offense you have to start with the OLine.” The Eagles also made several other adjustments that paid dividends. “We moved Brian Gentry to ight end in our big set and I think he did a great job of blocking for his first time at that position,” Willert said. Several defensive players also stepped up with key performances. “Madison Cone and Quenten McCray helped lead the secondary and they played pretty well on the night,” Willert added. “ Christian Beal had a big night with 201 yards on the ground and 120 receiving.” Willert said this week’s game will present another challenge. “We have another big game against Page,” he said. “They have played some tough teams and lost some close games. We are going to have to play well Friday night to get another win.” East will try to help Page remain winless when they collide.
