Craig drilled five more in the first six outs, but was unable to clear the fence again. Campbell finished with 34 total homers to claim the event title.

Press from Page 1 NBA. Manning’s insight would definitely help the young Giles elevate his knowlege on many levels. As far as winning, Manning has put some key pieces in place that should help the Deacons in ACC play during the 2016-17 next season. Whether or not Wake Forest can do well enough to vie for an ACC championship

or the national championship will be determined mostly by the other players who might pick Wake Forest if Giles comes aboard. At any rate, Giles’ signing with the Deacons would increase the Wake Forest fan base and help create another local legend. By following in the footsteps of Josh Howard and Chris Paul, Giles would do well for himself and the city.

WSSU track program concludes successful season From Staff Reports The 2014-15 athletic year was one for the ages for WinstonSalem State University cross country and track & field program. From it's very beginning to its stellar ending the WSSU program saw success at every turn, straightaway, and runway. The Winston-Salem State cross country programs hit their stride early and never looked back. The Lady Rams had a stellar season with top five finishes at the Catawba Invitational, the Bulldog Cross Country Invitational, the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge, and winning the Livingstone Cross Country Invitational. As impressive as the rest of the season was, the highlight came in its finale when the WSSU women's cross country team placed second at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championships. WSSU fell short by just one point shy of claiming their third championship in school history. Junior Danisha Wiggins led the way for the team when she earned All-CIAA honors for the second year in a row. Sophomore Tametris Morrison also earned AllCIAA honors as we. The men's cross country team also had an impressive season when they placed eighth in the meet.

From there, the Winston-Salem State track & field program kicked things into gear with another stellar season. The highlight of the season came when the team won its second Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Indoor Track & Field Championship in the last four years. Junior sprinter Raven Covington led the way when she won the women's 60m dash with a 7.47, setting a school record. Senior Tajanel McNeill had a stellar effort as well when she won the women's triple jump and placed second in the women's long jump. Freshman Domtilla Kiplaget also had a stellar meet when she won the women's 3000m run with a 10:13.12. For her efforts, she was named the CIAA Indoor Field Events MVP for the third straight season. After winning the conference championship, seven WSSU women's track & field student-athletes were named to the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) AllRegion team. From there, the team turned its efforts to the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet where four WSSU student-athletes were selected to compete against the best competition in the nation. Covington once

again took center stage she placed second in the women's 60m dash with a 7.43 in the event. McNeill placed ninth in the women's triple jump as well. For their efforts, three WSSU student-athletes were honored as 2015 USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field All-Americans as McNeill, Covington, and senior sprinter Nya Michaux all took home honors. The honors also came in for head coach Inez Turner who was named the 2015 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. The team followed a stellar indoor track & field season with an equally impressive outdoor track & field season. Among the many highlights of the season, several came with both Michaux and Covington breaking the school record in the 100m dash. One of the highlights of the season came when the team placed second in the 2015 CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet. Junior Raven Hamilton set the stage for the team when she clawed her way to a first place finish in the women's 800m run with a 2:12.34. Kiplaget also had another great effort when she won the women's 1500m run with a 4:44.39. While the team had several great performances, the WSSU 4x100m relay teams were consistently one of the best in the nation as they

were ranked among the top ten teams in the country for most of the season. For their efforts, the team was among the eight WSSU student-athletes to be selected to participate in the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. Along with both relay teams being selected, Covington, Michaux, McNeill, sophomore Ro'Daijah Faucette, and sophomore Tametris Morrison were all selected to compete in the meet individually. Covington qualified in the women's 100m dash while Michaux qualified in the women's 200m dash. Faucette also qualified in the women's 400m dash and Morrison qualified for the women's 400m hurdles. Both Covington and Morrison qualified for the finals of their events while the two relay teams also qualified for their finals as well. Covington finished ninth in the women's 100m dash while Morrison placed fifth in the women's 400m hurdles. Another highlight of the day came when the WSSU 4x100m relay team placed second with a 45.50 in the event. After the stellar performances, the WSSU student-athletes were honored with four individuals and both relay teams earning 2015 USTFCCCA All-American honors.

Andrew Brown joins the Rams coaching staff after spending three seasons as the head coach at St Andrew's University in Laurinburg, N.C. He comes to WSSU with a wealth of experience and will be a benefit for the program with his wealth of knowledge and sheer energy. The Pontiac, Michigan native took over a program that was in transition into the NAIA in 2012 and has continued to build it up by incrementally increasing their win total every season during his time at the school. In the 14-15 season Brown lead the Knights to a 9-14 record and a 612 mark in the Appalachian Athletic Conference . St. Andrews's nine wins and six conference wins are the most for the program since 2011. In his first

year in 2012, the Knights finished 2-25 overall and 1-15 in the AAC, and in year two they were 5-19 overall and 3-15 in conference. Two St. Andrews players who Brown assisted in the development into 2nd team All-Conference players were sophomore Guard Titus Gary from Fayetteville and senior Guard Aaron Smith from Raleigh. Brown served as an assistant coach for St Andrews in 11-12 season under former head coach and current ESPN 3 commentator Richie Schueler. Brown gained valuable coaching experience at the D-I level while he was a Graduate Assistant Coach at Mercer University for two seasons (08-09

and 09-10) under Bob Hoffman. He was heavily involved with a variety of administrative duties within the program. He helped with community functions, severed as camp director for Mercer basketball camps, coordinated and participated in educational programs in the Bibb County School District. In addition he assisted with dayto-day office operations under the guidance of the director of basketball operations. In 2009-10 the Mercer Bears team advanced all the way to the title game of the Atlantic Sun Conference championships losing to eventual champion East Tennessee State. The team finished 16-17 overall and was 1010 in the A-Sun. After the season Brown trained aspiring profes-

sional basketball players included three former Mercer Bears, Daniel Emerson (All-Atlantic Sun conference member), James Florence (Mercer's all-time leading scorer and current professional basketball player) and retired professional basketball player EJ Kusnyer (ranked second in the NCAA in 3pt Field Goals made in 2009-10). In addition Brown was an assistant coach under John Meeks at Wallace Hanceville CC during the 10-11 season. Prior to coaching at Mercer, Brown aided the Bears of Mercer University (Macon, GA) on the court for three seasons by leading his team in scoring at 15.5ppg during his senior campaign. Brown played one season at Owens Community College (Toledo, OH); where he played an instrumental role in his team finishing with a overall record of 28-6 and ranked #4 in the Final poll of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II.
