hen you hear names like: Mint Condition, KC & JoJo, Dru Hill, Slick Rick, Nappy Roots, Rob Base, Tank, The Whispers, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Avant, Juvenile, Case, Jagged Edge and Uncle Luke (A.K.A. Doo Doo Brown)…you know you are in for a great time. These are a few of the “entertainment moguls” that Atlanta’s promoter Jeremy “JD” Hill brings to the stage. He offers these concerts at affordable prices starting at $25 for tickets. When asked about his success, he simply said, “I am very passionate about seeing people have a good time and enjoying themselves. Although I had a lot of failures starting out while learning the business, what to do and what NOT to do; “experience” has made me successful in providing enjoyment for those who attend my shows.” JD, as he is called, shared that the driving force behind ensuring the success of every event included planning to do something different that had not been done in today’s market. He explained that he took into consideration the economy and how much the average ticket for those elite artists was about $75. So he wanted to create entertaining shows where anyone can come out and have a great time at an affordable price; hence the name Affordable Old School Concert Series was developed. Orchestrating his company, stemmed from his passion to see people have a gratifying time and because he is a lover of all types of live music, those two at-

tributes went hand-in-hand. He felt that people would come out; if he provided something they wanted to hear. When he secured the perfect venue, Wolf Creek Amphitheater, he tweaked it a little; got them to allow the participants to bring in their own food and drink, and it became a WINNER! His passion goes so deep, that seeing the crowd having an awesome time, which is rewarding to him, outweighs sometimes losing money from ticket sales. He sees his company growing over the next two or three years while doubling in the number of concerts he provides and JD ENTERTAINMENT, LLC is about to add Affordable Old School Cruises for 2014 to take his ventures to its next level. I asked Jeremy, what was a pinnacle moment at one of his events and he told me that about four weeks ago, his mother who is 62 years old came to a show for the first time in Atlanta and although this was not her demographic, she really enjoyed herself. Seeing her out in the audience dancing and having a good time was exalting for him at this SOLD OUT show of about 6000 people dressed all in white at the Affordable Old School Concert Series ALL White Affair. JD said his mother was proud of him and what he was accomplishing and THAT…made it worth while. Something you might not know about Jeremy JD Hill is that he is currently a Captain in the US Army. This has been his full-time job for 16 years and counting. Upon retirement, he will pursue his entertainment passion full time. Oddly enough, he said that on his

down-time after an event, he likes to travel and go to concerts sponsored by others with a live band and stated, “When I do this, I’m in heaven.” When you hear about an Affordable Old School Concert Series event, make sure you come out and join in on the fun, eat, drink and have a marvelous time dancing and enjoying entertainment that’s reasonably priced and he promises you will have the time of your life. You will be glad you did! •
