Sheikh Hamdan announces groundbreaking sewerage plan for Dubai
The AED 80 billion (US$22 billion) sewerage infrastructure plan will serve Dubai’s ever growing population for the next 100.
Sheikh Hamdan and the Executive Council of Dubai have approved the construction of a groundbreaking centennial sewerage system designed to address the evolving needs of Dubai’s population over the next century. With a strong focus on advanced infrastructure and sustainability, the project will be implemented in collaboration with the private sector and aligned with key strategic frameworks such as the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Urban Plan 2040. In doing so, it aims to reduce carbon emissions in the sector by 25% while promoting circular economy principles. Private sector involvement, encouraged by Sheikh Hamdan’s directive to the Dubai Municipality, underscores the vital role of collaboration in advancing Dubai’s integrated infrastructure, with private sector investments projected to exceed Dh1 trillion by 2033.
