Australia study visa guidelines have been changed and a SSVF (Simplified Student Visa Framework) has been implemented from first July, 2016. According to the new guides set by DIBP, all students need to apply for Australia study visa under subclass 500 from 1st of July 2016. The Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) replaced the previous student visa system. A single, Student visa (Subclass 500 replaced the previous seven visa subclasses(570576).

Earlier the visas were categorized under Immigration Risk where students applying from a certain countries were categorized under Assessment Level Framework. The new guidelines has a new combined country and immigration risk framework instead of the old Assessment Level Framework and paper applications have been permanently discontinued.
