The contemporary art organization tranzit.hu has been running in Budapest, Hungary since 2005. It is part of the East-Central European network called tranzit.org, which consists of local units working independently in Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia. tranzit.hu in Budapest carries out research, exhibition, educational, and publishing projects in Hungary and internationally. tranzit hu's main mission is to mediate between different segments of society and various cultural contexts, making visible the distinct character of artistic and curatorial research within its actions and projects. tranzit.hu is run currently by a group of five people. The main partner of tranzit is ERSTE Foundation.
