COMPANY SELECTION The selection of companies was based on the Boston Consulting Group list of Global Challengers 2011. The list of companies and the structure of the sample are presented in Annex 3. The subject companies were not selected with a view towards reaching geographic or industry-wide conclusions. The Industry Classification Benchmark was used to classify companies by industry. All companies were contacted in January 2013 when they were informed of the research and the publication of the report including a company ranking.
