CHEMISTRY A LEVEL

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

A Level Chemistry is a rigorous, challenging and ultimately rewarding course that develops your scientific skills and knowledge. In the first year, you will explore the fundamental principles that form the basis of chemistry and apply this to how chemistry is used in the modern world. Wherever possible, you will carry out experimental work to illustrate the theoretical principles they study. The second year explores the big ideas further and allows you to develop a more sophisticated and comprehensive understanding of chemistry. We study the AQA specification as it provides a comprehensive insight into different fields in chemistry, including particles, energetics, organic chemistry, kinetics and analysis. We will build on the core principles you have learned at GCSE and develop and extend your skills and knowledge of this fascinating subject.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER THE COURSE?

A Level Chemistry is highly valued by universities and employers as it enables you to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Popular courses at university for A Level Chemistry students include medicine, dentistry, forensic science, veterinary science, and courses related to the pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries.
