WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY JOB Asia has been a passion of mine ever since I spent a year living and working in Hong Kong some years ago. During my career with Trafalgar, first working in European Operations, including some time as a Travel Director in Italy, the opportunity arose to work for the Asia product; I jumped at the chance. I am very lucky that I am doing my dream job!
MY FAVORITE THAI DISH Som Tam is one of Thailand’s most famous dishes, made from freshly grated green papaya and a host of other sweet, salty, sour, savory and spicy ingredients. Artfully combined in a mortar and pestle, it can be found across the country from street side trolleys to luxury hotels. Eat it with Thai-style grilled chicken (gai yang) and sticky rice (khao niau) to combat the spiciness.
MY TOP TRAVEL TIPS Carry some small, portable luggage scales when traveling and check that the weight of your suitcases and hand luggage is acceptable for each flight before going to the airport. It’s also generally cheaper to pay excess baggage fees on an airline’s website as opposed to at the airport.
ONE SITE THAT EVERY TRAVELER SHOULD SEE IN THAILAND Wat Pho in the evening; it is a Buddhist temple complex in Bangkok situated to the south of the Grand Palace. As you stroll through the four great Stupas and light reflects off of the colorful mosaics, you’ll feel a sense of calm and balance.
