South Australian Stories

Story

WE CAN’T WAIT TO WELCOME YOU TO SOUTH AUSTRALIA A Boutique Gateway

South Australians have been hit hard this year, first with bushfires across Kangaroo Island and the Adelaide Hills, followed by Covid-19 which has all but flattened the global tourism industry. The first disaster caused widespread cancellations during peak travel periods, a devastating blow especially for Kangaroo Island which is dependent on tourism for half its income. In the Adelaide Hills, a third of all Hills’ vineyards were impacted, and the flow-on effects for boutique wineries for which the area is known were severe. The second disaster hit just over a month later. The global pandemic has effectively shut down the travel and tourism sector as we know it. We as an industry will recover, although that recovery will be hard fought, and tourism may never again look the way it once did. Despite all the adversity that the start of 2020 has brought, there is resilience and a toughness of spirit in South Australia that means we will rebound with gusto. We invite you and your clients to sample our culinary expertise, unwind in our nature-based activities and immerse yourselves in our unrivalled wildlife experiences. The world will reopen. Travel will rebound. And South Australia welcomes all who want to create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Left
