TPI Welcomes its 2021 Officers and Board of Trustee Members

TPI WELCOMES ITS 2021 OFFICERS

AND BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEMBERS

With Turfgrass Producers International (TPI) now operating on the calendar year, as of January 1, 2021, Steve Griffen of Saratoga Sod Farm, Inc., Stillwater, New York, officially stepped up to the position of TPI President from his previous role as Vice President. The 2020 TPI President, Hank Kerfoot of Modern Turf, Inc., Rembert, South Carolina, became Past President. Jim Keeven of SelecTurf Inc., Jefferson City, Missouri, moved from Secretary-Treasurer to his elected role as Vice President. Bob McCurdy of McCurdy Farms, Dyer, Tennessee, moved from his position as Trustee to his elected role as Secretary-Treasurer. Bob McCurdy’s move to the Secretary-Treasurer position opened an additional slot on the Board of Trustees, which explains why three Trustees have joined the Board for 2021.

New Trustee Ron Schiedel of Greenhorizons Group, Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; and returning Trustee Diane Mischel of DeBuck’s Sod Farm, Inc., Davison, Michigan; were elected to their three-year terms during the Annual Meeting held in Orlando, Florida, on February 18, 2020. In 2019, Mischel had been appointed by TPI President Eric Heuver for a one-year term to fill the position vacated by Jim Keeven. The third Trustee to join the Board in 2021 was Larry LeMay of A-G Sod Farm, Inc., Riverside, California. LeMay was appointed by 2020 TPI President Hank Kerfoot for a one-year term to fill the position vacated by Bob McCurdy.

Remaining on the Board as Trustees are Dan Huggett of Columbus Turf Nursery, Ashville, Ohio; John Keleher of Australian Lawn Concepts, Boyland, QLD Australia; Aaron McWhorter of NG Turf, Whitesburg, Georgia; and Cliff Steward of STEC Equipment, Inc., Sandy Springs, South Carolina.

Leaving the Board on January 1, 2021, at the end of their terms, were Past President Eric Heuver of Eagle Lake Professional Landscape Supply, Strathmore AB, Canada; and Board of Trustees member Keith Wittig of Central Turf Farms, Inc., Wharton, Texas. The TPI staff, TPI Officers and Board Members join TPI members from across the globe in thanking them for their service to the Association and their ongoing efforts to promote natural grass and TPI members worldwide.

The slate for the 2022 Officers and Board of Trustee members was being finalized as Turf News went to print. That will be presented to the TPI membership for a vote, with the election results announced during the Annual Meeting on February 19, 2021, during TPI’s PI’s Virtual Series.
