Zero Waste and Composting Food Waste
Contact Havswitch@gmail.com for help recycling “beyond the blue bin” through our Haverford volunteer based Terracycle programs. Please follow directions on what is accepted in each program. Make sure packaging is as clean and dry as possible! We have drop off locations for oral care items, personal care items, brita filters, food pouches and caps, foil lined chip bags, straws, writing utensils, scrap metal and more! If you have a Solar Home, Electric Vehicle or Buy Renewable Power in Delaware County (PA), you can get a motivational lawn sign to help move the needle in your community. We are hoping to get folks throughout the region to display a sign, especially those on a high visibility street.

Food waste accounts for about 22% of our trash. By composting food waste, we complete the carbon cycle by making nutrient-rich soil in which to grow more food. Learn how to do it and fight climate change! Discount $25 Compost Bins for Haverford Township residents attending the compost workshop (one per residence) while supplies last. Free garden mulch and lawn fertilizer!
Shred leaves for excellent garden mulch (mow pile, shredder, mulching vacuum, weed wacker in can of leaves). Mow leaves right into lawn for excellent organic fertilizer. Ask your landscaper, it might be cheaper!

10 Haverford Residents per year are getting a rain garden built by the Hav-a-Rain Garden program if their home or small business ranks highly enough, they contribute sweat equity and commit to maintaining their garden.
