development of the Plan. The Committee has issued a Request for Proposals for a professional consultant to assist in developing an action-oriented and implementable Plan. The Board of Commissioners anticipates approving a recommendation early this spring. Township Begins Process of Revising Comprehensive Plan Haverford Township has begun the process of updating our Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in 1988 and last updated in 2009. The Comprehensive Plan is the Township's primary planning document that (1) guides planning and development policy, (2) sets a vision for the community, (3) describes goals and objectives for existing and future development, and (4) provides an implementation strategy for achieving the goals. The Board of Commissioners has appointed a Steering Committee comprised of Commissioners, residents and staff to guide the

The Steering Committee and the Board of Commissioners recognize that input from a broad range of citizens, businesses and other community stakeholders is essential to developing and implementing a Plan that fully reflects the ideas and desires of the community. To achieve this goal, the Steering Committee will conduct research and distribute surveys to Township residents and businesses, and undertake an extensive review of existing conditions using a comprehensive community engagement strategy designed to maximize community input. The Committee will prepare a profile of the Township with the goal of answering critical questions such as “Where are we now,” “Where do we want to be,” and “How do we plan to reach our

goals?” In addition to consulting the public, interested parties, and government agencies, the Steering Committee plans to hold public meetings to receive maximum input. The revised Comprehensive Plan will be the foundation for new zoning and subdivision regulations, and other Plan implementation tools intended to improve the public health, safety, and welfare of our community. We hope you will participate in creating a vision for the future of Haverford Township.
