OOGA BREWING COMPANY WILL HAVE YOU SAYING “AH-OO-GA”

Although Beaver Dam has a long history of breweries, our city hasn’t had a brewery since Louis Ziegler Company closed their doors in 1953. That is, until now. Jim and Ruth Metz, in an effort to help bring the community together in downtown, opened Ooga Brewing Company in an old, repurposed used car lot and repair shop at 301 S. Spring Street in 2019. Named after that old car horn sound, ah-oo-gah, that used to be heard at this location, it was Metz’s way to memorialize the building.

Ooga Brewing Company’s taproom, with eclectic and bright lime green, black and white décor, has become a gathering place for locals, a destination for micro-brew enthusiasts and a gallery for featured artists each month. Head brewer Jeff Scanlon and assistant brewer Sarah Ferree make the magic happen at Ooga. Both started out as passionate homebrewers, and the Metz’s gave them the opportunity to transition to fulltime professional brewers.

About twice a week, brewing happens at Ooga, and their list of house beers continues to grow with names often inspired by iconic local people and things. Make sure to visit and enjoy at least one of these regulars:
