New Programs

Leadership Connect

Leadership Connect is a new tool used to enhance employees’ voice and ability to submit proposals to the department’s leadership and create accountability throughout the proposal process. All employees can submit a proposal for a new program, training or piece of equipment, and Leadership Connect will provide transparency in the process. Employees can see where the proposal is in the review process, and if the proposal is denied, it will be explained to the employee.

Leadership Connect increases transparency and accountability in the approval process and increases employee buy-in. Employees can review all proposals, not just the ones they submit.

Below are examples of updates from 2022.

• COMPLETED: Cobra Cuffs have been purchased and are ready to distribute after training is completed. (Submitted by Officer Pridemore)

• IN PROGRESS: Parker Police Department therapy dog. Currently in progress. Sergeant Schuster and Commander Prior attended training on the implementation of a therapy dog. (Submitted by Detective Cashman)

Video Increasing Safety in Our Neighborhoods

The Parker Police Department is partnering with Parker residents who have exterior video cameras for the Video Increasing Safety in Our Neighborhoods (VISION) program. The program is a voluntary database of residential and business locations with external security cameras. Police investigations frequently canvass areas surrounding a scene for security cameras. If camera owners are away or the cameras are hidden, it can slow the investigation or lead to a dead end.

Faro

The Parker Police Department purchased a FARO system (above right) in 2022 and trained staff members in its numerous abilities to assist with accident reconstruction, crime scene reconstruction, investigations and legal prosecutions. The FARO system utilizes 3D reality capture technology that exemplifies accurate and precise measurements that bring virtual representations of accident and crime scenes to the tips of investigators’ fingers and computer screens. This system increases the strength of evidence officers, and detectives gather for court proceedings.

10 Department employees, including patrol sergeants, officers, and crime scene investigators, were certified to use the FARO system in 2022.

Residents’ voluntary participation in the VISION program will help strengthen our investigative capabilities, reduce crime in our community and aid in apprehending criminals. Through the program, officers will find video evidence faster that may save an abducted child or find a missing at-risk adult. Residents are only contacted if we believe a camera may have recorded evidence that could aid a police department investigation. The Parker Police Department will not have access to cameras, only footage provided by residents.

All registration information is kept confidential and will only be accessed by Parker Police personnel. The Parker Police Department will never monitor or ask to access live cameras. Officers will strictly contact registered participants as an investigative tool after a crime or another emergency to gain critical information about the incident.
