Toxic Waste Round Up & Paint Exchange

Christmas Tree-cycling Program

Your unwanted TVs, computers, and old paint aren’t doing any good hanging around, but they will if you recycle them! Bring your old computers, TVs, paint, and toxic materials to the Town of Canmore’s Public Works Building at 100 Glacier Drive on September 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Acceptable items include expired bear spray, pesticides, herbicides, cleaners, aerosols, solvents, poisons, and flammables.

Each year Christmas trees are collected at depots between December 26 and January 19. Depots are located at Fairholme and 17th Street, Benchlands Trail parking lot, Quarry Lake parking lot and the Boulder Recycling Depot. Trees are chipped on site and used as mulch.

Community Clean Up Volunteer your time and help “Keep Canmore Clean.” Volunteers are needed to help clean up on roadways, parks and trail systems. Bring your family, friends and co-workers to the Recreation Centre (1900 8th Avenue) on September 17 between noon and 3 p.m. for a FREE lunch. Also door prizes, gloves and garbage bags will be available.

November 2011 Pumpkin Composting This year instead of throwing your pumpkin in the waste container with the rest of your household garbage, bring it to the Recycle Depot at 115 Boulder Crescent to be composted! Look for our special “Pumpkins Only” bin. We will collect pumpkins from November 1 - 8. Please remember: • Only pumpkins will be accepted for the program. • Remove candles and any accessories from your pumpkin.
