Together you and the Town of Canmore can make recycling happen with these 4 simple steps: Step 1: Collect and sort your recyclable material. 3 streams: mixed paper (includes all paper and cardboard), glass, plastic and metal). Step 2: Open your door, walk to your closest neighbourhood recycling bin. (Hint… they are blue and there is one in your neighbourhood!) Step 3: Activate your brain to determine which of the three slots you put your recycling in. Step 4: Walk home. Recycling is easy in Canmore (Really Easy)! Look for the new BLUE recycling bin in your neighbourhood.
Why Should you Recycle? Because it it now a Town Bylaw. The new Recyclables and Waste Disposal Bylaw was passed in 2016 and recyclables are now banned from going into garbage containers. What does this mean for you? Keep recycling and encourage your family, friends and workplace to recycle. If you recycle something, it can be recovered and become material for a new product. Plus, it benefits business and industry. The cost of recovering raw materials from existing waste items is less than the original manufacturing process cost.
