THE LOFT

Age: 12 to 17 years

Fee: FREE

The Loft houses an entertainment and media corner, pool table, table tennis, air hockey and much more. Visit www.aurora.ca/theloft for more information.

YOUTH GYMNASIUM DROP-IN

Age: 12 to 17 years

Fee: $3.25 per person

Bring your friends, or come out to meet new ones while enjoying lots of different sport activities in the gymnasium! See Family Drop-In Programs page for the full drop-in details.

Outdoor Skate Park

Check out our 10,000 sq. ft. permanent skate park, located at the AFLC. There are numerous ramps, rails and bowls.

The Town Of Aurora Is A Designated Youth Friendly Community

The Town of Aurora continues to thrive as it is recognized with its latest achievement - Youth Friendly Community. Aurora is now hailed as a Platinum Youth Friendly Community, joining an elite list of municipalities committed to serving its youth aged 13 to 19.

The Youth Friendly designation program works to acknowledge the great work that some communities are doing in ensuring their youth have continuous access to a diversity of play opportunities.

Thanks to the support of our local youth-serving organizations, the Town was able to submit a successful application and receive the award.

Location: Hartman Public School

With the emphasis on fun and being active, participants will work on some skill building, teamwork and game play. A variety of multi-sport activities, fitness and high energy games will be introduced each week.

ARCHERY

Age: 12 to 17 years

Location: AFLC

Join us for fun and excitement and try a great new activity. Participants will get to learn and practice basic archery skills and techniques with their friends in an enjoyable and safe environment.

Badminton Blast

Age: 12 to 15 years

Location: AFLC

This basic badminton program will provide participants the opportunity to practice various badminton skills and rally with each other in an informal and unstructured format.

CRAFTY ARTS

Age: 12 to 14 years

Location: AFLC

Join us for fun step-by-step workshops to create cool crafts and creative projects. No experience necessary, all levels welcome.

COOKING CLUB

Age: 12 to 14 years

Location: AFLC

Participants will learn about kitchen safety, food hacks and how to make healthy choices. Each week participants will create a new recipe, enjoy a snack and work with others to have fun in the kitchen.

DANCE TRENDS

Age: 13 to 14 years

Location: Hartman Public School

Step it up with this fun and creative program where participants will work together to learn trending dance moves and basic movement skills.

GIRLS GOT GAME BASKETBALL SKILL & HOUSE LEAGUE

Age: *8 to 11 years

^12 to 14 years

^Aurora Heights Public School

This program is focused on girls who are interested in learning the game of basketball, developing their skills, and building confidence. Emphasis will be on skill development and learning the team concepts in a fun, interactive environment, followed by game play with older female athletes, coaches and officials.

KC BADMINTON CLUB

Age: *Junior Basic Level 1 – 7 to 12 years

^Teen Basic Level 2 – 12 to 18 years

Students will learn the fundamentals of badminton basic skills including high clear, serving, lifts, footwork, front to back, side to side and some knowledge of how to play single games.

SNACK HACKS (P.A. DAY)

Age: 11 to 13 years

Participants will try out different food hacks and snack recipes. Please indicate dietary restrictions during registration.

STEM MINDS – ADVANCED STEM CLUB

Age: 12 to 17 years

Join our Advanced STEM Club and learn about cutting edge technology like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, Internet of Things, Cryptography and more.

TEEN RUN CLUB

Age: 12 to 15 years

STORM VOLLEYBALL – BEGINNER

Age: *11 to 12 years

^13 to 14 years

Location: AFLC

Learn the specific technical skills that are needed to build the foundation for a well-rounded volleyball player. Coaches will teach the technical elements of each primary skill and then run the athletes through gamelike drills to practice what they have learned. This program is designed for new or beginner players who are just starting out.

This motivational, non-competitive running club is for youth who want to learn new skills and have fun running with others. Learn to build endurance, practice proper running form, pacing, injury prevention and nutrition.

STORM VOLLEYBALL – INTERMEDIATE

Age: *11 to 12 years

^13 to 14 years

Location: AFLC

Players will take what they learned in the Beginner program and work with coaches to refine technical skills. There will be minimal gameplay with a focus on skill development. This program is designed for players with some knowledge of basic skills and playing experience. Prerequisite: Completion of Storm Volleyball Beginner course with the Town of Aurora.

YOUTH PICKLEBALL – LEARN TO PLAY

Age: 10 to 17 years

Location: Aurora Seniors Centre

This is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Learn pickleball basics and be able to play with more confidence at the end of this introductory program. Our coaches will cover the fundamentals of serve, return and volley.

STRONG IN SPORT

Age: 10 to 12 years

Location: AFLC

Participants will take part in sport, physical activity, mindfulness, and confidence building activities led by an all-female coaching team. Each week participants will have a chance to try out various sport activities in a friendly, non-competitive environment and programming that focuses on supporting participants’ mental and emotional well-being.

Age Requirements

For most Youth programs, participants must be the minimum program age by the last class of the program. Some exceptions apply.
