ADAPTED OPPORTUNITIES
The Town of Aurora offers specialized programs specifically designed for participants with special needs. These adapted programs have smaller staff to participant ratios, modified instruction, and an overall more sensory aware environment.
PLAY-ABILITY KINDER
Age: 4 to 7 years
Location: AFLC
Participants of all abilities are welcomed into this adapted stay and play program specifically designed for children with disabilities. A 1:4 staff to participant ratio will be provided. This program will focus on the development of gross motor skills, a variety of movement skills, turn taking and sharing. Participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or support person.
SOC-ABILITY
Age: *16 to 21 years

MOVE-ABILITY
Age: 5 to 10 years

It’s time for a dance party! In this adapted program, participants of all abilities will engage in a variety of movement activities that promote physical literacy, rhythm, and coordination. Participants will partake in an engaging warm-up, sing-alongs, and interactive movement songs. This program will include an opportunity for freestyle, in order to develop and promote self-expression and confidence. This program is offered at a 1:3 staff to participant ratio. Parent/guardians are encouraged to attend to support participants.
Location: Join this virtual social club for youth and young adults of all abilities. Soc-Ability virtual sessions will include simple activities, facilitated social discussion, and theme-focused chats with friends. We understand the past while has been difficult on individuals who are seeking new friendships and meaningful relationships. This program will have a focus on meeting new people, practicing social and life skills, and socializing in a safe, adapted and supported space. All abilities are welcome. Depending on individual ability, some may require parent/guardian participation from home to participate.
ADULT – GROW
Age: 18+ years
Location: AFLC
Adults with exceptionalities can enjoy a unique space to build friendships, daily living abilities, and explore ways to expanding independence. With activities that look to build on strengths and skills through programming focused on resume building, cooking, socializing and more, participants will continue to GROW. Participants must be independent in personal care and manage in a group setting.

Age: 8 to 12 years
Location: AFLC

This program will focus on strengthening social skills with peers, improving appropriate play, and building physical literacy and movement through engaging activities. Parent/guardians are encouraged to attend to support participants.

Pickleball
The Town of Aurora is excited to offer Adult Pickleball Leagues (Beginner and Intermediate) and Learn to Play Lessons for both Youth and Adults. Programs are located at either the Aurora Family Leisure Complex or Aurora Seniors Centre. These programs are offered in partnership with our service provider Elevation Athletics, a proud affiliated club with both Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario.
PICKLEBALL LEAGUE – BEGINNER
Age: 18+ years
Location: AFLC
Offered by Elevation Athletics Association, this weekly pickleball league is a developmental doubles league where each player does not need to have a registered partner. Players will be assigned to matches competing for individual points and league ranking. Paddles will be provided for players that do not have their own. Limited experience required. This league is for players that may be new to Pickleball.
