There’s no denying that Florida is home to some of the most beautiful springs on the East Coast. Even Gainesville native Tom Petty couldn’t resist capturing Alachua County’s enchanting emerald springs with references to Glen Springs in his song “Dreamville.” Before theme parks and tourist traps flooded the Sunshine State, the springs were the attractions that drew people to Florida even before the state was established with their claim of possessing unique healing properties. Magnesia Springs located in Hawthorne was no exception to the popularity of the springs. 82 |

These five-gallon bottles, which are currently on display at the Matheson History Museum, were delivered by the Magnesia Springs Water Company. According to Moore’s book, trucks went from delivering 200 bottles to 500 bottles a day.
