How To Make $4,050 Per Month From A Forum That Has Just 150 Members I’m willing to bet that for every “for” reason you can think of for running your own forum there are an equal number “against” reasons but it’s the balance of these which create the complete picture. And it’s from this picture that you can then decide if running your own forum is the right choice for you because, let’s be honest here, this isn’t going to be for everyone. Each person is looking for something different when it comes to making a living online and there are many, many, different options to choose from so it’s important for each person to weigh up which is the right choice for them. The better a person is informed then the better the decisions they can make. So how do you know if setting up and maintaining a forum is the right choice for you? Before you go any further, taking in to account how much you know about the subject right now, how much do you want to do this? (on a scale of 1 – 10) If your answer is 5 or less then it may be best for you to pass on the idea and explore a different choice because it’s important that your heart is in the things that you do. If you heart is in it then it makes the entire process easier and more enjoyable for you, and the people who join your forum will notice this. It’s important that you want to do this.

The reasons why you would want to create and manage your own forum: Easy To Maintain Forum sites are quite easy to run on a day to day basis. This is especially so if the site is one which is free to join because all you’re providing is a community type of site where like-minded people will connect with each other on a daily basis.

Easy To Grow The site that you run can explode in terms of growth, both paid and free to join forums. This is especially so for those sites which use the free to join model as there is no barrier to entry for people wanting to join. Constant Supply of New Content Created For You There’s no need to worry about having to continually create new content for your site because your members will do this automatically as they create new threads, post on those threads and reply to other members. It’s a never ending cycle that all forum sites enjoy. Even if your site uses the ‘paid for’ model your members will still post new content as they ask questions and post answers to each other. If you’re offering training via your forum then you will need to create that content just like you would do if you were using any other type of site or product. There’s Money in That list As your forum grows in membership size so does your email list. Hey, wait a minute; do you just say that I’ll be growing my email list? Yes, that’s right, that’s exactly what I’m saying because all forum software provides the Admin (that’s you) with the ability to mass mail all members in the same way that your autoresponder software/provider allows you to mail all of the people on your mailing lists. The mailing list aspect of owning a forum is often the most overlooked of all when people talking about how to monetize forum traffic.

Monthly recurring income Although not every niche is suited to the ‘recurring payment’ model it is a very lucrative option and can give you financial stability. It’s not until you sit down and go over the figures that you realize just how much money is in a recurring payment membership site. And the recurring payment doesn’t have to be monthly; you can choose to bill your subscribers quarterly, bi-annually or annually. There is a growing trend for people wanting to pay yearly rather than monthly so bear this in mind. So, as an example for some figures, if you charged just $27 per month for access to your forum, with 15o subscribers you’ll generate $4,050 per month and, depending on the niche of your site and what you’re providing through that site, you could spend as little as 2 hours per day managing it. Some days you could spend less and other days you may spend slightly more but you certainly won’t be tied to your forum for 8 hours per day if it only has 150 members. If you build that up to 300 members then you’ll double your income to $8,100 per month but you certainly won’t double the amount of time you spend maintaining the forum. I know it sounds crazy but there just isn’t the need for you to watch over your forum 8 hours a day with 300 subscribers because not every member will visit every day, some will come just to read through the sites content without actually posting anything. Would you be happy working from home, being the boss, working on your own terms, looking after your forum for $8,100 per month working 8 hours a day? Did I mention that there’s no commute either

The reasons why you wouldn’t want to create and manage your own forum: You Don’t Want to Do Any Work If you don’t want to spend any time looking after the site then owning a forum probably isn’t going to be for you. If you’re super lazy and expect everything to be done for you with next to no effort then I suggest you go look for another option.

Although running a forum doesn’t mean you’ll be tied to it for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, you will need to put in some time and effort in the same way you would do with any successful business. Not Technically Minded Maybe you’re not technically minded and the thought of installing and setting up a forum makes you run for the hills. Well, that’s fair enough but before you begin running did you know that you can install a forum, for free, directly from your websites cPanel in the same way you do when installing a WP blog? You don’t need any special skills or knowledge to install a forum, you just need to point and click. OK, so the forum has been installed on your hosting, maybe now you’re thinking, “But I have no idea how to operate the admin section of a forum or what any of the settings do etc“? It can seem a little daunting at first but then most things that you have never done before can be. However, what you may not know is that all of the forum software programs that you can choose from have a huge gigantic knowledge database and their own support forum that covers everything that you will ever need to know about that particular software. Still not convinced on the technical side of things? No problem, go over to fiverr.com and you’ll be able to find people there who can help you out with setting up your forum. Pay them extra and they’ll do it all for you so you’ll never need to get your hands dirty but I can promise you that once your forum is set up and you’ve had time to look over the admin settings you’ll soon get to know and understand how everything works. You Just Don’t Think You Can Do It As Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right”. I didn’t fully grasp the meaning of this quote for a very long time and then it dawned on me. It’s all about having the right mindset and believing in yourself because when you doubt yourself all you’re doing is holding yourself back. It’s all in your head right now. I mean that all of the answers are in your head right now.

Everything that you need to know about how to do something is in your head right now because you have the intelligence to use a computer, and an internet connection, which means you have access to all the information that you need. But, also in your head right now is your biggest enemy, your greatest barrier, the biggest thing that will ever hold you back is YOU! And you can do that so easily because all you need to do is think, “I can’t do this“. Keep telling yourself that you can’t do something, reassure yourself about it over and over again until you convince yourself that you can’t do it and that’s exactly what will be. So, if you can cause that effect by thinking in that way you can just as easily cause the opposite effect by thinking the opposite way and that’s what Mr Ford meant by his quote.

So ask yourself this question, “What is left that is really stopping me from running my own successful forum“? Answer that question honestly after giving it careful consideration and after having read the above post a couple of times. If you’re still not too sure then head on over to the Total Forum Blueprint blog for more information about running your own forum. http://totalforumblueprint.com/blog/ There’s lots of free information available there. But if you’re 100% certain that this isn’t for you then I would like to thank you for reading through this post and I hope that you’re able to take something useful away with you.

May I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavours and that you find what you’re looking for very soon.
