Kids will have a blast learning the basic techniques, rules, and scoring of pickleball. The goal is to have fun while learning the fastest growing sport in the United States!

Pickleball Mixers

Beginner Mixer

Age: 16+ | Autrey Park Pickleball Courts

This is for players who have taken the “Learn to Play” class. Come mingle and enjoy friendly game play with others who are getting into the swing of pickleball. A coach will be there to help answer questions about rules, strategy, help observe, coach play, and help rotate players on different courts. Players MUST have some familiarity with scoring and pickleball.

Advanced Beginner Mixer

Age: 16+ | Autrey Park Pickleball Courts

This will be a social mixer for recreational players who are confident in scoring and rules, have been playing a while, and are ready for some friendly competition. There will be three courts of doubles play. A timer is set for 15 minutes. At the end of 15 minutes, the winning teams moves up a court and splits partners. Losers move down a court and split partners. A coach will monitor play and help coordinate the mixer.

Intermediate Mixer

Age: 16+ | Autrey Park Pickleball Courts

This will be a social mixer for players who are confident in scoring, rules, and have been playing competitive recreational play or novice level tournaments. There will be three courts of doubles play. A timer is set for 15 minutes. At the end of 15 minutes, the winning teams move up a court and split partners. The losing teams will move down a court and split partners. A coach will monitor play and help coordinate the mixer.

Soccer Camp

MARCELO BALBOA SOCCER CAMP

Age: 7-15 | Community Park

Make new friends, learn new skills and have a ball at the Marcelo Balboa Soccer Camp! Former US National Team player and National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee Marcelo Balboa brings knowledge and experience to this camp from his years as a player and coach. Camps are offered in a fun and challenging environment where participants can develop as individuals and soccer players. Cleats or running shoes are required, shin guards are recommended. All skill levels are welcome. Bring a snack, water bottle and soccer ball. Please wear sunscreen!

Beginning Bird Walk

All Ages | Autrey Park

Some of the best wildlife watching can happen in your own backyard! The Town of Superior is on the migratory bird pathway, and you can spot many species of birds moving through, and hanging out in our Town. Birders of all levels are welcome to come explore Autry Park open space with wildlife ecologist Ashley DeLaup as we learn about our resident and transitory bird neighbors. Bring your binoculars!

NATURE AT NIGHT: OWLS AND BATS

All Ages | Community Park

Come enjoy some of Superiors night life at Community Park! Join wildlife ecologist Ashley DeLaup for an evening walk focusing on our nocturnal winged wildlife, owls and bats. Please meet at the basketball court parking lot off of Indiana at 6:30 pm.

WHAT’S THE SWOOP ABOUT POLLINATORS?

All Ages | Purple Park

"It’s a butterfly! It’s a plane! It’s a moth?" At this program, we will discuss the differences between moths and butterflies, as well as what you can do to support these busy, pollinating species! The program will start at the picnic shelter by the main parking lot at Purple Park and will consist of a 0.75 walk around the park. Please dress appropriately for weather, bring sunscreen, snacks, water, and any other personal items you may need. Registration is required.

DISC GOLF: TOSS

Talk

Join us for an evening of disc golf as the Town looks to make improvements to the disc golf course at Autrey Park. Temporary baskets will be set up within a new course design and we are looking for your feedback! Discs will be provided to those who do not have any. Please dress appropriately for weather and be prepared for hilly terrain, bring sunscreen, snacks, water, and any other personal items you may need. Registration is required.

Wildflower Walk

All Ages | South Pool

Join us as we take an evening stroll through Coyote Ridge Open Space and discuss the wildflowers we see! Please dress appropriately for weather and be prepared for a 2-mile walk on hilly terrain, bring sunscreen, snacks, water, and any other personal items you may need. The program is free; however, registration is required.

Poetry In The Park

All Ages | Purple Park

Come put your thoughts down on paper as we take in the serene sounds of Bowes Pond Natural Area! This creative writing program will start at the picnic shelter by the main parking lot at Purple Park and will consist of a short walk across Rock Creek Parkway, where we will find inspiration. Please dress appropriately for weather, bring sunscreen, snacks, water, and any other personal items you may need. Paper will be provided to those who need it. The program is free; however, registration is required.
